Wanted to let fellow riders know that the bike train shuttle threw the Lehigh Gorge section of the D&L is running again this year. One weekend a month
starting in April. It drops you off in White Haven and you ride threw the gorge 25 miles back to Jim Thorpe. The exact dates can be found on the Pocono Biking website. Paul
So peaceful;everyone saying good morning;we walked the trails 4 miles
The path is very poorly maintained, with lot of potholes and tree roots coming out. Safer to ride with that cars to be honest.
Mostly soy fields and horse farms, plus a touch of suburbia along this Monmouth County trail. Good news recently in that East Windsor will fund an extension into Mercer County (through vineyards!).
This is a great trail to get from one side of the Bronx to another. The ride starts from Van Cortlandt Park in Riverdale to Pelham Bay Park. Recent improvements to this trail have made it even better. Enjoy the almost 10-mile ride through the Bronx, mostly off-road, with some parkway crossings.
Visit City Island, Orchard Beach, and Pelham Bay Park, all within a short distance. The Bartow-Pell Mansion is across from the trail on Shore Road. The mansion grounds are free and make for a nice place to stop for photos or just a break.
We ride this trail in the winter so there are hardly any people around, but I can picture this trail being crowded during the summer months. The trail is pretty flat the whole way so there is hardly any coasting, just a lot of pedaling.
Rode this entire 9 mile trail out and back in September. North end terminates at Old York Road.
Began my mountain bike excursion at dawn from Warbasse Junction on a mild November Saturday. Headed out on the Paulinskill Valley Trail through the Sussex Branch Trail intersection toward Mudcut Road. Two miles in there was a good-sized bear in the middle of the trail, forty yards ahead. Stopped, calmly backed up and turned around once the bear did. It added about four miles to the loop. The Great Valley stretch is not as well traveled as the trails it connects. Wide trail most of the way. Fine for hybrid bikes. Memorable ride. Loop was well marked in each direction.
This is another favorite of ours. The scenery is amazing and having the chance to see trains is another benefit. Really enjoy riding through the Lehigh Gorge State Park. So much to see. Just watch for the rattle snakes (seen) and black bear (didn't see). I recommend bringing a camera, there is a lot to see.
This is my favorite except for the first section out of White Haven to Middleburg Rd. This part needs to leveled out and fixed. Took a fall going through and haven't used it since. From Middleburg Rd. to Black Diamond is awesome. The scenery is the amazing. Love the lakes and bogs.
