Old Croton Aqueduct Trail

Historic trail with varied terrain and beautiful scenery. We parked in Rockland County and rode over the Tappan Zee Bridge and made am easy connection to the trail.

Pequonnock River Trail

Amazing Trail, wonderful community

August, 2021 by albert18

I have done the trail four times so far, and it is a great experience. I usually take route 25 up to Monroe, hang a right off of 25 to the park, and park my car there. The last leg of the north end takes you to an abandoned factory, and it’s a little sketchy. I don’t recommend it. But if you take the south route all the way down to Trumbull round-trip at 15 miles it is beautiful. The paths are extensive, and as a bicyclist, you could call out to everyone if you were on their left or right. It’s a very safe and fun trail for the whole family.

Bronx River Greenway

Awesome except at 233rd St and Oak St. Entrances

Skip those two segments. Boring. If you insist on checking those out, do so on a bright, sunny day. They both have a spooky, remote feel.

Patriots' Path (NJ)

The trails that have any signage at all are overgrown. The rest is either not marked or unreadable signage. Not even adequate for mountain biking. The only saving grace is the arboretum in Morristown.

Ridgefield Rail Trail

nice, quiet and less traveled

August, 2021 by obrien.alicia.13

Must park on Halpin Rd or you’ll struggle with parking at the trailhead. Slight down hill grade from Ridgefield, but otherwise an easy walk, crossover roads marked well. No bikes just walkers and runners.

North County Trailway

great trail for running miles.

August, 2021 by eric.florio

Starting from Elmsford the road has been completely repaired and has less bumps and cracks than before. The path from Briarcliff towards Millwood has been repaired and the road seemlessly transitions from elmsford to Yorktown Heights which is the furthest I have run so far. The important notes: -Well paved for running biking and even roller blading. -signage great but not necessary because trail is clearly designed -only one major road crossing but when I ran there was no traffic -few quick street crossing

Boulevard Trolley Line Path

Not for small kids, else good

August, 2021 by rock7084

The trail is good and scenic with moderate inclines/declines but the biggest issue is proximity to a busy road along with constant crossing of driveways and roads making it quite dangerous for small kids who don’t pay attention. Park at the St Catherine’s church’s parking but crossing the street itself is a bit risky with small kids.

Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail

Very flat, very long

August, 2021 by strell1010

I saw that this trail rode along the canal so I was ready for some beautiful scenery. Well that is does deliver, but the path is very flat with no elevation variation. My family likes a hill here and there to coast through and catch some speed, but this trail (at least the part we rode) has none of this. We picked up the trail in Millstone at Amwell Road.

Hudson River Greenway

City Life

Spectacular views! We road from Dyckman Street Viaduct to The Battery. Hudson River almost always in view. You go right under the George Washington Bridge. Flat, easy ride (note some hills at the north end but you can walk them- they are not long). Along with the sights, always somewhere to stop and get a bite. We generally ride very rural routes so this was a treat for us. Yes, there are a lot of people, motorized scooters, etc. so you have to be alert, but well worth it. We went on a Tuesday, so not too crowded. We parked in a parking garage on Dyckman Street. They were very familiar with cyclists and let you take your time to get your bikes off the rack and get your gear. Bucket list ride for me!

Putnam Trailway

Great Ride

July, 2021 by c.landara2

This is one of the most well-paved trails in the tri-state area so if you love a smooth ride this is the one for you. There’s a small lot for the trailhead in Baldwin Place thats adjacent to a strip mall on 118 that you can use to park. About a 24 mile roundtrip up to Brewster and back. Definitely hillier than the North and South County trails which makes for a good challenge. Mix of shady and sunny portions throughout. Fun ride through Putnam County.
