Cannon Creek Greenway

Good for a quick ride or cut-through

May, 2020 by jokawood

A very smooth path that has a couple of road crossings. If you cross Brookland Park Blvd then you can extend your ride. Great if you want a path to calibrate a new bike, power meter, or teach someone.

Easy walk with great views!

Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail

Nice ride but.....

April, 2020 by littlead77

As much as we have enjoyed the uniqueness of this trail our rides have been diminished by the sound of gun and rifle shots that seem to surround the trail. I would like to feel secure that these shotting ranges or properties are a safe distance away. But the first two miles beginning at the trail head do not feel safe.

Trail is paved and marked. Great views of creeks and wooded areas. Ran while our three youngest rode their bikes. She’s 7,8 & 10.

Perfect for a short stroll

This is the perfect short trail for a nice stroll.

Virginia Capital Trail

Noisy but pretty Trail

October, 2019 by akbender

We were in the area and enjoyed the weather as it was a beautiful fall day. Flat, well paved and tree lined. Disappointed that cars and trucks were consistently going by just a stones throw off the bike trail.

Worth the Travel

Drove from WDC to Richmond for a 60 mile training ride and loved the uncongested trail with excellent surface. Very infrequent stops available for restocking fluids or food, so pack accordingly. Will definitely come again.

High Bridge Trail

Wonderful Group Ride

August, 2019 by janie.friedlein

Our biking group through Wintergreen Sporting Club had a lovely experience on this trail August 2019. We parked in the restaurant parking (free for customers). We enjoyed a terrific lunch with extremely bicyclist supportive staff after our ride! One look at us and they served water immediately.

Some of us have road bikes so the crushed gravel trail keeps the rider alert. Some piles of gravel along the way posed a challenge for road bikers. I ask those who maintain the trails to be aware of the perils of piled gravel and sand to bicyclists.

The historic markers, some shade along the way and the bridges make this a 5 star trail.

Railroad Ford Trail

NOT Wheelchair accessible!

July, 2019 by slromeo

This is a nice walking trail with some scenic views of the lake. It should be easy for anyone with reasonable mobility. There are significant roots growing across the path as well as some grade changes that would make this horrible for a person in a wheel chair but in several areas there are trees across the trail which would make it impossible!

Powhatan Creek Trail

Great for Everything but Skating

May, 2019 by j.m.gardnersmith

Asphalt parts of trail are awesome but the boardwalks are a killer. Not recommended for quads. Beautiful and Clean! Definitely go there again but not on skates 😉

High Bridge Trail

High Bridge State Park

April, 2019 by jeffersonk

We are frequent visitors to this park. It is an excellent place to run, ride or walk bikes along the gravel path or bridge. Despite other reviews - this trail has several walking and mountain biking paths that are quite interesting. One is about a mile long that takes you underneath the bridge. Another close to Camp Paradise parking lot is about a 1.5 hike through the woods. There are several other trails along the path we haven't discovered yet - but it is definitely worth the trip.
