Niagara Gorge Rim Trail

update the beauty

September, 2026 by 572hgmd76w

Started at the Discovery Center and headed north. Niagara put in a greenway path along the old path and it meanders parallel and in and out of the old trail. Such beauty. App needs updating for it though.

West River Shoreline Trail

Absolutely LOVED!

September, 2026 by luxstacey

We spent the weekend in Buffalo trying different trails and this one was our favorite. We accidentally went into Beaver Island State Park and started there (whoops), but if you take the right in the traffic circle right before the park entrance you’ll find a parking about a 1/2 mile down the road. The trail itself is amazing. It’s like a small road and travels 8 miles along the waterfront. It was just awesome!

Traveling to Rush on Sep 13 for a day with some free time. I came across this trail on a search for riding opportunities in the area. Looking forward to riding. Thank you for all the reviews.

Lehigh Valley Trail (Monroe County)

Nice ride

August, 2026 by kolwit

Biked the Rush to Mendon section on 8/30/26. Trail surface maintained well. Mileage post/signs are along trail for reference. Interpretive signing at Rochester Junction for those interested in railroading history. Would definitely ride again.

Clarence Pathways

Very good to excellent surface. Excellent way point signs. Middle portion of triangle heading south is now a trail to Greiner rd, making it easier to form a loop with these trails.

Cheektowaga Historic Rails to Trails

quite, shady and great for families

The only negative is that many roots are rising up and starting to break through the pavement. So, some spots are a little bumpy. Otherwise it’s enjoyable.

Springville Pop Warner Rail Trail

Bumpy Ride

August, 2026 by luxstacey

We had high hopes for this trail and were disappointed. The parking area is a little sketchy and the trail itself is bumpy gravel. Some of it was just grass with big stones throughout. We actually turned around after about 3 miles because we thought we might blow a tire. Seems like it has potential but it is not maintained at all. The pictures are deceiving.

West Shore Trail

horrible trail

August, 2026 by snlvr

As others have said, the short paved part is beautiful. The rest is larger rocks surface in many areas and the path is very narrow. I’ve ridden some rough paths before but this one takes the cake. I turned around after one mile and decided that it wasn’t for me.

Tonawanda Rails to Trails

linear park

A very well maintained linear park. A lot of road crossings though. Not scenic but pleasant. At the north end follow the signs to continue to the canal trail and to the Niagara River

Great Gorge Railway Trail

spring conditions

Sections of the trail were washed out and provided poor footing for a run. Trail is closed just north of the Whirlpool Bridges

Genesee Valley Greenway

Awesome Trail, do not attempt unprepared.

February, 2026 by ajsavitsky

I love this trail. There's a trailhead right down the street from where I go to school up in Rochester, and it makes for a great endurance ride on a late summer or early fall day. Typically, I'll pick up the trail head and ride south down to Wadsworth Junction, where I can then pick up the Lehigh Valley trail. Generally speaking I have nothing bad to say about this trail. It's pretty well maintained, has some beautiful scenery, and a lot of cool history scattered throughout. However, a word of caution: It was the Sunday before Columbus day, I had some time to kill, and I decided I wanted to take the trail down to the Junction point in Piffard (Not the same as Pittsford). At this point in time, I hadn't gone anywhere past Wadsworth junction yet, so I was pretty much riding blind. As I got further south past Wadsworth, the terrain got significantly more sketchy. Trenches, muddy conditions, and A LOT of hedge apples. Not to mention the sheer amount of leaves that had fallen making it hard to plot a line ahead. Against all odds, I made it to my destination, and back in one piece, having only wiped out once. The moral of this story is, while the trail is awesome, do not attempt with out proper preparation. If you're like me, and you like to ride a gravel setup for versatility, be warned that standard gravel tires are probably not enough for the southern part of this trail specifically, and you might want to swap them for something more grippy (e.g. a cx tire) if you plan on going further. Great trail! Ride with caution.

Springville Pop Warner Rail Trail

Too rough to ride

October, 2025 by davidmbapst

Trail has high potential but needs a lot of work. Large stones make it mostly unrideable and almost dangerous to walk. Mostly used as snowmobile trail in winter.
