Salado Creek Greenway

Pros/Cons

August, 2020 by roxxig

First time here very shaded beautiful trail but we went on a Sunday extremely packed too packed for my liking packed with group bike riders walkers joggers strollers kids roller skaters it was very overwhelming for me since I’m a new rider I don’t care if I fall but I don’t want to hit no one and the path just doesn’t seem as wide as Leon creek and Medina and then I never wear my mask to ride but seeing how packed this trail was 2 miles in made me regret it immediately also this trail is for advanced riders that will yell at you if your slow or if you don’t know the correct lingo and also if your not wearing a helmet I know wearing a helmet is appropriate but it’s not required so to feel the need to yell at me just seemed a bit rude I had never been yelled at before lol

Leon Creek Greenway

Excellent

August, 2020 by hijodediosmrm

I completed the trail today from the Military Drive Trailhead entrance to the end of the trail near the Rim shopping center and back to the starting point . I give this trail a rating of 5 stars. I hoe to do it again next week at a faster pace.

Salado Creek Greenway

For those that roller skate...

July, 2020 by kristamu2006

Finding decent trials for roller skating can be tough. I have skated the Salado Creek Greenway from the Oak Well Trail Head off Austin Hwy to McAllister and then McAllister to Phill Hardberger Park and it’s doable on roller skates. There are some hills, blind curves, and debris that you need to watch for but it’s manageable. There is lots of shade on the route and some exposed areas. Plenty of water is a must for south Texas heat and humidity. The trails are super slippery for skate wheels when there is even a tiny bit of wetness left over from rain. If you are comfortable t-stopping, plow stopping, staggering, and maybe even turning to stop on your toe stops, then you can manage this route. There are some places that I found I can practice going backwards down hills (for more control).

Awesome Trail

July, 2020 by mallorytomlin97

This trail is a great showcase of what this app is all about. The scenery is beautiful and the path is very easy to follow. There are multiple spots along the way to take a quick jump into the water. Absolutely beautiful path. Lives in Houston, and I would absolutely make the drive once a week to come out here.

This sidewalk trail is well built but it goes nowhere it dead ends on the east side into a field and on the west side dumps you into mass construction. In a few years I think it will connect

May, 2020 by tiffany.lawrencern

Great trail for skates! It’s hard to find trails that are accessible for skates so this is perfect. Smooth trail with a few area with some dirt or twigs

Medina River Trail

Challenging

May, 2020 by roxxig

This trail is NOT for beginners you’ve been warned ¿¿ do not underestimate it also some parts of the trail have a lot of gravel and cracks I’m proud of myself but I’ll never do it again!!!

Cibolo Trail

pretty trail

April, 2020 by jcowboy1969

Enjoy riding bikes on this trail. It’s short but perfect for kids. As most trails it seems safe through a nice neighborhood but I wouldn’t go by myself. However everyone I saw was by themselves. It’s a pretty trail, paved with seating a long the way. Good for older people and kids.

Old No. 9 Trail

fun trail

April, 2020 by jcowboy1969

Fun trail. Straight in the beginning and benches along the way for stopping and resting. Trail has not so great houses backing up to it that made me feel a little uncomfortable being by myself with a child so I took my husband the next time I went. It ends in a pretty place near the Library with bridges and trees so the trail is more interesting on as you approach the library. I think next time we will start our ride at the library.

San Antonio River Walk Hike & Bike Path

I hiked the entire SA Riverwalk with my dog!

March, 2020 by davidtearley

The Riverwalk in San Antonio is not only the most adventurous trail, but it also takes you through several different areas of society and provides education. The Riverwalk works in a fascinating way, unlike any other in the nation. You will see different types of wildlife, bikers, paddlers and some great views of downtown. Even the Missions along the Riverwalk are dog friendly. We have been to those as well - https://placesforpups.com/i-hiked-the-15-mile-san-antonio-riverwalk-with-my-dog/

Hike (or bike) the San Antonio Riverwalk, you will not be disappointed.
