Warren County Bikeway

Great Training Course for Half Marathoners

May, 2019 by hancockp

I am a 75 year old runner. I start in the center of Glens Falls and run on the Bikeway to Route 9 about once a week and all the way to Lake George and back about four times a year.

On the fourth Saturday of June the ADK Runners hold the "Run to the Lake 15K" that starts at Suny ADK, up Blind Rock Rd, then picks up the Bikeway at Ash Drive. It's a challenging run. When you turn down toward the lake it can be brutal on your knees if you're running hard.

Looking forward to extending the Bikeway to Warrensburg.

Fonda, Johnstown & Gloversville Rail Trail (FJ & G Rail Trail)

Nice Ride

May, 2019 by bhalt299

This was my first time triking on the F,J&G trail. The trail is well maintained and has many things to see that make it interesting. My favorite section is at the southern end where the trail parallels a stream set in a gorge. That section is wooded and has nice views. Many reviews say that there are many street crossings. That is true but I didn’t find that onerous. My only complaint is the lack of public bathrooms which is becoming more important as I get older. There is a Price Chopper next to the trail which makes for a nice stoping point for bathrooms and food.

Erie Canalway Trail

Between Lyons and Newark

This section is very fragmented. You have to walk on the road for long distances. It’s really too bad because there is so much canal history in this stretch I would love to be able to walk it.

Kaaterskill Rail Trail

Not for bikes

February, 2019 by suzyallman

A pretty little wooded (though unspectacular) rail-trail that could be the start of a wonderful loop through Catskill towns and North South Lake. But note: this is not a trail for bikes, because the wooden rail ties are still in place. The ties should be removed, unless the intention is to deter bikes from using the trail. They don't add a level of historic poignancy; they're just darn bumpy, and you'll be stopping ever twenty feet to walk your bike over them.

Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail

Great, paved rail trail

January, 2019 by dwightcheu

The waterfalls near the eastern (Albany) terminus are beautiful. Going east to west (Albany to Voorheesville) you gain elevation, but the trail is never more than a 5% grade and usually less. There's an air pump for your bike tires at the eastern terminus.

Scenic fun

The trail is in good condition, flat, clean, and scenic. It checked all the boxes.

Erie Canalway Trail

newly paved east of Amsterdam

September, 2018 by bhalt299

About 5 miles of newly paved trail has been open east of Amsterdam to Pattersonville. It is a really nice ride along the river.

Newly Paved Section

September, 2018 by bhalt299

We had been waiting for the new paved section of trail to open connecting Slingerlands to Voorheesville. It opened and they did a terrific job. There is limited parking at the Port of Albany trailhead but it’s a great ride of about 9.5 miles from there to Voorheesville. At the Voorheesville end the trail ends at a small park that has a new gazebo where an old railway station used to be.

Bog Meadow Brook Nature Trail

Terrible since they've paved

September, 2018 by peggysantiago52

The trail has been ruined since they've paved it. I use to see different kinds of wildlife like, snapping turtles, timber doodle. Now nothing they're all hiding. Totally ruined the nature aspect of the bog.😔 won't go back

Hoosic River Greenway

Hoosick trail

Nice trail, crusher run, so you have some rough spots. Overall a nice short trail to get your bike out or take a walk. I probably take a fishing pole with me next time on the trail. There are stations to do cardio or other exercises along the trail.

Warren County Bikeway round trip

August, 2018 by iammeg1

19.5 mile round trip from Platt St Glens Falls NY to Lake George and back. Enjoyed lunch and a boat show in Lake George at the 1/2 point which added to the charm and makes the few larger hills coming out of Lake George worth while. Near the Glens Falls end has a nice top for a drink The trail is all asphalt. A short section is on the road (rt 66 and 17) with decent shoulder. The northern section from Glen Lake to Lake George is nicer than the southern section but it is a bit hilly at times. The southern section has a lot of road crossings causing it to be stop and go.

Ashuwillticook Rail Trail

What a wonderful trail

July, 2018 by mmoran56

My wife and I rode this trail from one end to the other. The scenery was beautiful, the ride was easy and the people were nice. Lots of lake views. Some hills but not difficult. Parking was a small challenge but not impossible. I would do it again in a minute.
