Camping at Cathedral Caverns with our Grands, loaded up our bikes and all went for ride on this trail, this is a very nice trail, it may only be 1.8 miles but it’s very scenic, two nice bridges crossing the Flint River.
We started north and east of downtown at Tennessee Riverpark Curtain Pole Road. Free parking! There are several places along the trail like this, so look around. In downtown, you’ll have to pay for 2hr parking at Ross Landing. It was a really nice ride out to the end of the trail at the dam and back. Mostly park-like with some industrial sprinkled in as well. All of this area is well manicured. We saw areas where a nearby business had dedicated the improvement to their employees. We then made our way downtown. It’s beautiful, with a lot of pedestrians so take care. There are a couple of switchbacks on the trail there, but you can do it! Downtown you’ll need your gps maps to confirm the bike routes. The Walnut Street Bridge affords a great many views. As we made our way west and south, the trail went through some of the older industrial areas and ends near the Lookout Mountain Railway. A great fall ride for us.
We biked this lovely trail from the Springhill Suites, which is right on the trail, to the dam. The paved trail follows the Tennessee River and is pretty easy to navigate, with a few tricky areas around the Hunter Museum and Walnut Street bridge. I loved all the art displays including the mile markers which are metal silhouettes of various people. We felt safe the entire length and enjoyed it immensely.
This was a gentle incline hike from the Guild Trailhead parking lot on Ochs Hwy to Rainbow Falls then back, it was about 3 1/2 miles total. The trail was easy to traverse with some scattered rocks and an occasional bridge that would supply a vista of the Chattanooga area, it was a quiet trail on the weekday. I came across a couple of runners and a bike the entire time. I rather lost the trail at Rainbow Falls, perhaps I didn’t look too hard and I was content to return. Because I was birdwatching, this took me a couple hours, but a true hiker could do it quite quickly and easily, it’s a very nice trail.
We took this ride in April 2023 and enjoyed it immensely. We travel and have been on multiple bike trails. This is the most beautiful and robust bike trail I have ever been on. It is very well maintained. We have e-bikes and this trail was perfect. They have bathroom buildings, bike repair stations, picnic tables, and emergency phone stations along the route.
Just finished riding the whole trail. It’s 8 feet wide and paved, really new pavement. Yes some hills but it’s one of the smoothest trails we have been on. Some of the side loops are narrow and concrete and with springers on you get a refreshing wash. Very little traffic and no water or rest rooms available.
Very nice trail along the lake. Easy to find and wide enough for bikes going both directions. Some goose poop to dodge, but other than that very nice scenery.
Rode bikes on this trial on a great sunny spring day. Beautiful scenery most of the way. New business and home construction near the end, but over all a great trail. Glad we took time to stop and use this trail.
1st road trip with our electric bikes. This trail was an awesome place to ride with no cross roads. Lots of people using the trail. Not even close to being overcrowded. Highly recommend the trail.
We parked at the Ditto Landing end. Parking shown on the trail map was actually an RV Park so we parked at the marina area on the side where the trail begins. Trail was well maintained - asphalt and concrete. The first part was shady while the other end was sunny. The trail followed a creek where ducks, geese, turtles and some friendly doggies were enjoying splashing around. We really like how the trail did not cross any busy roads but pigtailed around to go underneath them and over the creek. There are several benches along the way if you need a rest stop. We saw about a dozen bikers and walkers on the trail today. We will ride there again once cooler.
Great scenery and accommodations. The directional signage for the trail is poor, especially for newcomers to the city. The maze of trails south of the art museum is very confusing. Although there are warning signs for the wooden plank bridges, they can be very slippery when wet.
