Howard to Pulaski and Return

I rode a recumbent trike from Howard to Pulaski. The trail was in good condition and a fairly smooth ride.

Old Abe State Trail

Straight, Long and Flat

September, 2025 by tmccabe77

We biked this trail from downtown Chippewa Falls to Brunet Island State Park stopping in Cornell for lunch which has two bar & grills and one restaurant to choose from. The trail from Chippewa to Anson trailhead is basically riding through town and business park warehouses and I think we’re gonna skip this section next time. The Anson trailhead is probably the best place to park. As you ride north the trail becomes particularly beautiful from Jim Falls north. When you get to the end take the time to ride the big loop at Brunet Island State Park which is beautiful. The rail trail itself is straight long and flat-reduced to four stars due to sections of the trail being rough with many cracks, holes, etc.

Green Circle Trail

Good Trail, mostly

September, 2025 by julieganser

The trail is mostly beautiful. Almost all crushed gravel, which we didn’t expect. In some parts the gravel is thick and loose. The only asphalt is on county roads. the concrete, as expected, was on sidewalks in town. The boardwalks were fun but be careful if you are riding on 3 wheels. If I hadn’t just rode the Heart of Vilas and the Root River State Trails, which are as close to perfect as you can get in this region, I would’ve given the Green Circle a 5 star review.

Becoming a Favorite Trail

June, 2025 by tedijw

We’ve done this trail twice and really enjoy it. Was attending a conference in SP and decided to bring bikes along. Weather was perfect for riding so we took advantage and rode this trail. It was wonderful. Love the variety of ‘environments’ you bike through, especially Schmeekle Reserve. The train is well maintained. Only delay was waiting on a train for 45 minutes!!

Old Abe State Trail

Great trail!

June, 2025 by dpate

I rode the entire trail in late May 2025 from Phoenix Park in Eau Claire north to Brunet Island State park and back. Just north of Eau Claire there are quite a few tarred cracks running across the trail for a mile or two of not so pleasant riding. Just south of Cornell there are some well marked frost heaves that are easily negotiated. Overall great trail that I rate 4.9999 stars. Traveling cyclist Facebook

Buffalo River State Trail

ATV Trail (mostly)

October, 2024 by tmann51

As other reviewers have said, this is NOT a bike friendly state trail. I live in Mondovi about 1/3 mile from the trail head and have learned that some of the worst loose sand is in the first mile heading east. However, after having bought a "fat bike" with 4 1/2 " tires, this is very ridable. I personally avoid riding on weekends due to the ATV traffic. It would also be nice to have more public parking along the route.

Pine Line Trail

Beautiful!

October, 2024 by the_masseuse

So yes, the gravel isn’t the greatest, the bigger the tire the better. It’s a bit chunky and loose..gets chunkier in Price county, seems to be kept up though? It’s so worth the extra effort come Fall. I had very little issues with my gravel bike. It’s super peaceful. No ATVs allowed, but horses are ¿. Seen quite a few grouse and there’s all new bridges throughout! It’s quite the beautiful trail and worth enduring the subpar gravel.

Foundation Trail

Love this little trail with meandering through the woods along the river. Asphalt is in good shape too.

Buffalo River State Trail

Fall ATV ride

September, 2024 by fm65zbf5bq

We have done the Buffalo trail in the past but today we did our favorite section-parked in Fairchild lot, went to Osseo and back. Beautiful day. Trail in decent condition. Some potholes and puddles. Ranged from gravel to sandy surfaces. Beautiful forest to drive through. Places to stop and get fuel/eat if necessary.

Foundation Trail

We rode the entirety of the trail in 2.5 miles and we’ve never seen a more clean, well-maintained, and marked walking/biking path. Top notch! Highly recommended!

Green Circle Trail

Spectacular trail

July, 2024 by mmaryandarturo

Lots of shade and curves. 90% on trail and 10% on non-busy roads. Trail well taken care of. Mostly limestone with many wooden bridges. A few busy intersections to cross though but all had traffic lights. Be careful though because some of trail is made for a single rider and not enough room for an oncoming biker to go by. A few speedsters on trail, so take those curves (some blind curves) slowly and carefully. Lots of absolute stunning scenery at every turn. I loved it, minus those speedsters¿¿¿¿¿
