North County Trailway

beautiful ride

July, 2020 by e.l.smierciak

Starting at Baldwin Place and headed south. Beautiful well maintained trail, all new surface. First few miles were downhill, so the finish of the return trip was a little tough. Nice places in Yorktown to stop for refreshments. Can’t recommend enough.

Shore Parkway Greenway Trail

Over crowded and potholes

July, 2020 by pchan866

There are no bike lanes from the bridge to Cesar’s Bay. Lots of large holes and cracks. People everywhere riding rental carts that take up half width of the riding/walking area. Not worth it.

Hook Mountain/Nyack Beach Bikeway

Great trail with a connection to Rockland Lake State Park

July, 2020 by sschwinn

This is a great trail for any bike type but optimized for anything bulkier than "skinny" road tires. Great views and for parts of it you are literally right on the river.
About a third of the distance north from Nyack Beach State Park there is a trail intersection with a mostly paved road, including a tough little climb, that will take you to Rockland Lake State Park with its paved joint use trail that circumnavigates the lake.
North of the intersection the trail becomes more challenging with a few fairly steep uphills.
NOTE: The road down to the parking lot at Nyack Beach State Park has been closed to vehicles since last year due to a landslide. There is no information available on when it will be repaired. There is street parking a few blocks south of the Park entrance and at Rockland Lake State Park.

North County Trailway

Great Trail

July, 2020 by gieniacz

Completed approximately 12 miles and then back. Started at the north end. It is downhill going south so, biking back (more tired) you will have more hills to deal with. Next time we will start at the north end. Also, a short part of the trail was closed and there was a detour for about .25 of a mile and then you get back right on. We stopped in Millwood for refreshments. Excellent trail. It was 90 degrees outside but the shade was awesome and made the ride very comfortable.

Sandy Hook Multi-Use Pathway

I suggest get there early as the park tends to fill up rather quick the trail is paved so smooth sailing it was nice to get out of NYC and have people say good morning as you pass them on the trail a lot of history here so what are you waiting for.M

Awesome ride on the onewheel!

Henry Hudson Trail

a leisurely summer ride

July, 2020 by smajler

We rode this trail a couple days ago on road bikes, starting in Highlands. Beautiful views along the path and a variety of scenery. We went on a hot sunny day and were happy about how balanced the trail was in terms of sun exposure and shade. You can park your car at the start of the trail at Henry Hudson Trail Activity Center (on google maps search for “Bayshore Family Success Center”, it’s the same building/parking lot). The first couple of miles or so are bumpy due to the tree roots raising asphalt along the route. The ref of the ride was smooth but we rode only as far as Keyport. so are

D & H Canal Linear Park

Review for D AND H canal trail

July, 2020 by hardboy1864

Very nice trail Well kept and groomed. From 209 to Wurtsboro. Everything was well marked and groomed. Watch out for dogs near some of the farms near by. One of the dogs came at our party and almost bit one of the riders. The owner came out and later apologized.

Lawrence Hopewell Trail

Middlesex Greenway

Excellent Trail Except No Social Distancing

June, 2020 by danielledavan1

The trail itself is a beautiful 3.5 mile paved road traveling through Metuchen, Edison and Woodbridge. Great for walkers, joggers and bicyclists. However, as another person mentioned, people do not stay to the right of the road. People walking in a group will continue walking at you without adhering to the rules of social distancing and moving over to their side. It's a shame because it is a lovely walk however people need to be more respectful with regards to social distancing.

Heritage Trail (NY)

As Flat as it Gets Around Here

June, 2020 by ilyalapin90

Perfect trail to go road biking on. This is as flat as you can find it around these parts with only 450ft of elevation over a round trip of about 30 miles. Perfectly maintained and paved tarmac. Not a single incline/decline above 1% gradient.
The closest official parking location on the Southern end of the track is at Orange and Rockland street long term parking lot. However, if you wish to start at there very tip of the trail, I recommend parking at River road and North Main Street in the town of Harriman (right next to Mary Harriman Park).
