Scenic

October, 2018 by streak1

Ran here while on vacation in October,2018.Very scenic and quiet.Trail surface in outstanding shape considering rugged winters. If you want a trail with steep hills go to Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park. It's about 30 minutes away and will really challenge your running capability.

About 5 miles of newly paved trail has been open east of Amsterdam to Pattersonville. It is a really nice ride along the river.

once is enough

Was passing thru so decided to do this trail. I started at the Buffalo Harbor State Park (was planning to start further south -- trail end at Lackawana but decided I did not want to leave my car in the parking lot. Filled with lots of stuff since I was in the middle of a seven day road trip). From the State Park parking lot I managed to get into and thru downtown Buffalo. Had planned to go all the way to the end, but got to a part of the trail that appeared to be on poorly maintained sidewalks thru a sketchy neighborhood, so gave up. I did bike all the way to trail end in Lackawana and noted a sign that said "Be Safe, Walk with a Friend" which explains why I did not want to leave my car there. The view of the Peace Bridge was nice, but overall I don't recommend this trail

Riverwalk Bike Path, Tonawanda, NY

July, 2018 by johntodd104

Although this Bike Path is scenic, it is NOT maintained, it is continues wide cracks in the pavement and huge bumps. I already saw a couple bickers fall because of the neglected pavement. Not only do you risk a fall because of the neglect, you also risk damage to your tires as the bumps & cracks are severe. I have a Road Bike, and changed my tires because of the bumps, also note the bumps also can shift your gears.

Tonawanda Bike Trails

The Bike Trail that goes from the Erie Canal along the Niagara River past the Grand Island Bridge is the worse maintained trail I ever rode on, it is full of cracks and large bumps in the pavement making a ride uncomfortable and dangerous. Although the trail is scenic, it is NOT maintained at all. I will no longer ride this trail. If you rise a road bike with thin tires, you have a definite risk of wheel destruction. I do NOT recommend this path for biking!

Construction Alert-Summer, 2018

July, 2018 by vicki1960

The Beach 8 construction project continues. Therefore a section of the trail remains closed. There is a well marked detour but you will be directed onto park roads. This could create a problem during peak park traffic times, so plan accordingly. Not sure when this project will be completed, but it's gonna be nice when it's done! Still a nice trail but you may have to cut your ride short. For updated park and trail information, visit Presque Isle State Parks website or contact the park office.

Nice ride

Nice apshalt trail along Niagara River. Portion of trail does go along the 190 which is a heavily traveled thruway, so that portion can be a bit noisy. The trail does pass thru many parks along the way which makes for nice rest areas. At the Black Rock neighborhood in Buffalo have the option to take a asphalt trail that takes you to Delaware Park, which is an Olmsted park. Also have option to go off trail at numerous spots in Tonawanda and Buffalo. Most of the trail is off road except for short portion in Black Rock, near the inner harbor, and between the inner and outer harbor. When get to inner harbor have the option to take bike ferry across from inner to outer harbor, believe cost $1. Only reason gave 4 stars is because of portion near thruway and few sections bit bumpy.

June 18 ride

First time at Presque Isle State Park. The trail is all asphalt and goes around Presque Isle. Great views of lake Erie and the city of Erie as you bike around the isle. You will see the light house and the Perry statue. We also saw many snapping turtles. The trail is 14 miles. After we did the trail once, we sat on our beach chairs at the beach to relax. We then got on our bikes and did 6 more miles. Parking is anywhere you want. Very enjoyable bike ride and easy to ride. Will do this ride again.

Nice Trail

June, 2018 by triedham

Biked trail from Little Valley parking area south to end in Salamanca. Fairly level, smooth, mostly grass. Nice bridges. Fairly dry considering the recent rain. Could use a few benches or picnic tables along the way or at the Salamanca end. Had to bike back to Little Valley to have lunch at the picnic shelter. After lunch, biked a few miles north. This part is in more open farm land. Because of the lack of pavement, this trail requires tires wider that a typical road bike. My mountain bike worked well.

Clarence Pathways

Beautiful Trail On The Way To Niagara Falls

June, 2018 by rkleinpa

We were heading to Niagara Falls, ON and wanted to stop every day and enjoy a bike ride. We rode The West Shore Trail, the Newstead Bike Path and part of the Peanut Line Trail for our daily goal of 20 miles. The path is completely asphalt, is very wide and with only one short entry into a downtown area, completely rural. Highly recommend the Clarence Pathways for a terrific way to spend the day.
