West Essex Trail

trail is in fine condition!!

August, 2020 by jhartmann66

My 7yo daughter and I rode the entire trail today (out and back). It seems to be well-maintained currently and we had no issues. It was very enjoyable!

Bethpage Bikeway

Curvy, daring & worth it!

August, 2020 by thepoetsuede

Pros: Long trail with several entry points Mostly smooth Very nice tree coverage Nice trails for off ride riding Decent hills that challenge in a nice way Cons: Dangerous sharp blind turns Some slight ripples pavement at times Several stop and cross points

South County Trailway

great road

July, 2020 by chinabushell

Just finished a 30 mile ride on the trail. Started by VE Macy Park and ended right before Sleepy Hollow. Nice ride. The first 4 miles were bumpy but as you get further into Westchester the road gets smoother. Nice trail. Next time will ride 20 miles out.

Manasquan Reservoir Trail

Great trail!

July, 2020 by dpalmer76

Mostly shaded and smooth riding. There were a good amount of people biking, walking, and jogging but everyone was courteous and we all gave way to each other. Mostly flat with a couple of gradual hills and one moderate climb. Easy access, restrooms along the trail, and plenty of parking.

Saddle River County Park Bike Path

great park and trails

July, 2020 by pfraley25

There were a good number of people, but not too bad. The bikers were good about sharing the path. The area is flat and it’s nice to see the river on a hot day. Would recommend this area.

South County Trailway

Absolutely fulfilling

July, 2020 by thepoetsuede

This ride is sure to please all. Most sections are smooth and yes, moments of patches of bumps come up but it does not change the setting. They actually keep the trail pretty smooth. Continue riding towards the Northern section and really put the work in.

Jones Point Path

Currently Closed

Went to do the path yesterday on my way to Bear Mtn. I was disappointed to find the trail under construction with machinery and a gate blocking the trail.

Loantaka Brook Reservation Trail

Nice smooth shaded trails

July, 2020 by hpyiin

It’s the first time we visited there and we found the entire trail is all paved, so that makes this place suitable for bikers and walkers of all ages. Hence do expect some crowds but we think it’s still manageable. Most of the trails are under tree shade. We loved it and wished it could be longer distance. There are picnic tables, a gazebo and a small pond by one of the large parking lots. Looks nice.

Traction Line Recreation Trail

nice shot trail

July, 2020 by hpyiin

The trail is paved along side of a railroad. When we got there around 4 pm, there was literally no one there. It was a smooth bike ride except most part of the trail is not under any type of shade. For its under 3 miles distance one way, it was alright to us.

Tony Ambro’s Ride

July, 2020 by ambrosioacad

I always ride this trail for a great workout Today did not disappoint as usual. The beauty is so breathtaking. Depending upon what time of the day you go, you will see some very nice wild life towards the north end of the trail and some nice ecological (e.g turtles, fish and some exotic birds) towards the south end. Yes. I said turtles. Wouldn’t surprise me if there were some snakes living on the trail although, I never saw any. This is the good thing about this trail. You get to experience a great workout and the beauty at the same time.
Enjoy your ride!!!

COVID warning

You cannot park on site if you do not live in West Chester. Must be able to show proof at the gate or you will be turned away.

Sandy Hook Multi-Use Pathway

summer dream

July, 2020 by smajler

This might be my new favorite summer bike-path. We visited twice within the last month, both times on the weekend and since the trail features beach access (for a stretch on both sides of the path) the area is busy with beach goers. The traffic across the path is limited mostly to the parking areas so it’s not much of a nuisance and the bike have wasn’t that busy both times we went (late afternoon/evening). The path is smooth, the scenery is beautiful and you can have a picnic on the beach and take a dip at the end of the ride - what more can one ask for? The only warning I have is that on a weekend you might get stuck in traffic if you plan to park at the park, so consider street parking before getting to the bridge and biking/walking the distance.
