Sheboygan Interurban Trail

Good Ride

August, 2018 by dpoquette

I wrote the entire length of the Sheboygan Interurban Trail . In general, it was an excellent trail to ride. However, As the previous person who posted earlier, the trail is about 50% on the road. That was disappointing. The road was good to ride and not full of potholes.

Oak Leaf Trail

no extension to Bender park

August, 2018 by crswit

First let me start by saying the Oak Leaf trail is an excellent trail that circles Milwaukee county. I have been using this trail ever since it use to be called the '76' trail. Unfortunately, I haven't been on the south end in years. I recently decided to go south(starting at Greenfield park) with the intent to get to the newer of Milwaukee Counties parks, Bender park. When I got to Drexel at which point I would normally go straight east toward Grant Park I found I was able to continue South. Not having checked the trail map prior to my adventure I made the assumption that the ability to go further South of Drexel would somehow meander its way to Bender park. Unfortunately I was mistaken. Needless to say I managed to get to Bender park by going East on Ryan Rd./Hwy 100. I eventually got back on the Oak Leaf trail down near Grant park after heading North from Bender park through South Milwaukee on 5th Ave. Let me once again reiterate how awesome the Oak leaf trail is and how I should have checked the map prior to my excursion. As an avid biker I can only hope that at some point there will be an extension/offshoot of the Oak leaf trail that will allow bikers to safely get to that corner of Milwaukee county via trails.

Newton Blackmour State Trail

Wouldn’t recommend New London to Shiocton

August, 2018 by 4sudas

I typically ride pebble trails but this trail is a mixture of sand and pebbles, making it a difficult ride. I have a crossover bike and was looking to trying out the trail. I typically ride Wiouwash or the CB trail. Unfortunately, there’s absolutely no scenery during this leg of the trail. I started at House Road as someone else mentioned, none of the cross roads at the west end of the trail have a parking lot or trail head, so I had to park off the road. It looks like Shiocton heading east looks better, but the trail itself makes this a very difficult ride. I plan to try the other leg, I will update when I get there.

Newton Blackmour State Trail

Pretty good shape, map is wrong

July, 2018 by crackbiscuit

As another reviewer pointed out, the west end of the trail actually starts at House Rd, a mile and a half outside New London, and not as shown here and in Google Maps.

The trail surface was overall in really good shape (on June 10, 2018). There are some hoof marks and washouts, but the trail is extra wide and they're easy to avoid.

There are no places to take a break and sit down west of Black Creek, and only a couple from Black Creek east, so keep that in mind when planning how long a trip you wanna do on the trail. If it's a mosquito kind of day, you're not gonna wanna stop for long anyway! (There are bars and such in the communities you pass through.)

There was some nearby gunfire. Many hunting shacks dot the private lands along the trail.

Trees are nearby for most of the trail, but not close enough to provide any shade during midday.

Bugline Trail

Nice trail

July, 2018 by jo turner

Nice trail. Paved. Green tunnels. Pleasant even on a hot July mid-day. Lots of busy road crossings. 99% cars stopped for crossing, but never sure about that other 1%. DH and I ride a tandem recumbent trike with a wide turn radium and many corners were not wide enough for us in one pass.

Eisenbahn State Trail

loved this trail

July, 2018 by hargreaves48

My friend and I bike the whole trail. It was hot out but had a great breeze. There are lots of bridges, great scenery, mostly gravel, but paved on the west bend end. There are bugs so spray and you’ll be fine. Fun trail. If us, 2 old ladies and do it, you can too. We are over 70!

Wiouwash State Trail

fun trail

June, 2018 by hargreaves48

I done this trail a few times love love it. There are getting to be lots of problems though. Mud , ruts, and holes from animals. Wood bridges need marking that they are slippery when wet, be careful. Still one of my favorite trails.

Fox River State Trail

Fabulous Ride

June, 2018 by jmclincoln

The Fox River Trail in Green Bay WI should be in the Rails-to-Trails Hall of Fame. It’s mostly pavement or cement the fist 11miles, with beautiful parks and gardens along the way. The northern half hugs the river, so cool breezes and intriguing vistas are part of the ride. Businesses along the way put out water for your dog. The south half, although a crushed stone surface just past mile marker 11, is worth the ride to Greenleaf for a scrumptious lunch.

Mascoutin Valley State Trail

Great Ride on a Hot Day

June, 2018 by mctamara

We rode the Ripon-Berlin route up and back. It was an unusually hot day, but the trail is 80 - 90% shaded. Very few open areas and a few minutes' ride gets you back in the shade. A round of thunderstorms had just finished when we set out but the trail was mostly dry and very well-maintained. Mosquitoes were abundant so wear spray if you plan to stop for a bit. Had a break and nice lunch at Shepard's in Berlin, and made use of Mike's Bike Shop in Berlin too. Be aware that there are signs prohibiting electric bikes on this trail...I contacted authorities who stated that ebikes are fine for anyone with a disability or who might be pulling a disabled person. I plan to address this further. I had my regular bike this time but often use my ebike to pull my disabled adult daughter.

Oak Leaf Trail

from Honey Creek Dr & Honey Creek Pkwy to Western Portion of Hank Aaron Trail

June, 2018 by y1htak

Honey Creek Pkwy is a very pleasant windy smooth road. Although you do have to go across Wisconsin Ave and Bluemound road which can be quite busy streets.

We picked up the Oak Leaf branch opposite 72nd st that goes through Wauwatosa. Once we got on the trail there were a lot of people and kids walking in large groups. A few bikers too. Good thing the trail is wide as you go past Hart and Hoyt parks.

We made a left on Swan Blvd. Quite a busy street with fast traffic but luckily you're not on it very long. Right after you pass under the railroad bridge you make a right onto Underwood Pkwy. Very bumpy road but lightly traveled

Trail was closed where it passes under Hwy 100/Mayfair Road but detour was clearly marked. Detour had you cross Waterplank road then wind through the industrial park which was deserted on Saturday afternoon until routing you to cross Hwy 100 on Research Drive. Even though we pushed the button we never did get a walk light across Hwy 100.

We met up again with the Oak Leaf trail which was pleasant then took the Hank Aaron trail back east.
