Not so great if you are expecting a bike trail that’s scenic. This runs the length of a major road. 3 lanes most of the ride. It was more of riding down a sidewalk.
This is my go to bike path. I start at Haw Ridge and ride to Elza Gate - 6miles one way. Great round trip ride! Very pretty scenery and some challenging hills.
My wife & I rode this stretch for the first time 12.26.21. Great intermediate ride with a few inclines and bridges but mostly level. All hard surfaces and some of this trail is lighted but not all. GPS did not get us to the starting point correctly. Best way to find the parking for this starting point coming off Old Knoxville Highway is to turn on to Williams Mill Rd and turn on to Alcoa Trail and parking is just a short piece on the right before crossing pistol creek. Trail actually goes along side or crosses creek in a few places. Parking did have some lighting. No bathroom facility at the parking point.
Started from patriot park, crossed street to start trail through a neighborhood, rode .5 of a mile and unable to continue due to closed crossing and construction for water pipes. Hopefully will open soon but we will not be here.
No bike riding here!
Construction at Patriot Park. Curtails almost half of the loop around the park.
Actual ride length as measured by Fitbit app GPS is 10.89 miles Note the high side path is a bit up and down While the low side is frustrating for the driveway ramps along 80% of the route
Trail surface is mostly ground gravel of cinder consistency . Larger gravel on the trail is near the visitor center and some of the road crossings . The section west of the Gibson Station parking lot is no longer maintained. I used my road bike with no issues except for slippage in a couple loose cinder , sandy areas. Overall this is a lovely trail with little traffic. Saw 10 or so hikers and no bikers, on a Saturday. I have been riding this trail for many years. There is lots of new activities to do in the park by the visitor center and new walking trails open . You could easily spend a day with the kids here .
Nice paved trail. More than enough hills for this Floridian!
Good place to ride Not to hard to navigate between sections. Some nice scenery and some so so. Easy to jump off and ride around the UT campus Be sure and tour the UT gardens while you ride by
There are new parts of the Greenway off springbrook towards Clayton. Would love to know what those look like.
