Truman Linear Park Trail

Lovely 7 mile boardwalk/concrete trail

September, 2026 by maplover2

Although still a bit hot in summer, we rode from the Savannah on Wheels bike rental shop to Daffin Park where the trail now starts and headed towards Lake Mayer. Everything is newly completed and lovely and some sunny sections will be more tolerable in cool weather or when the tree canopy grows in. We recommend departing the trail at Bacon Rd to head to Thunderbolt for shrimp on the dock at The Wyld. Perfect refresher for the ride back.

Spanish Moss Trail

Nice Trail

September, 2026 by mstddt252_tl

We decided to drive over and parked on the Port Royal most southern end and ride it since we were on our way back home from spending 5 days riding all of Hilton Heads bike trails. This trail is nice and wide and the southern end is the nicest part. The northern end needs somebody to take a leaf blower and clean it off. The northern end is kind of sketchy imho and we seen nobody up on that end.

Extensive Trail System

September, 2026 by mstddt252_tl

We have pretty much ridden it all. The only issue is to ride it all you have to ride 278 and traffic alongside the trail is loud and moving fast. Without this map be easy to get turned around. I had my phone mounted on my handlebars and worked great following us the little blue dot ¿

Blind Willie McTell Trail

Looks like a good walking and biking trail, but the cracks in the road and steepness of hills, combined with all the intersections with the main road is not a good combo for rollerskaters

Savannah & Ogeechee Canal Trail

not good

Mostly along a road with nothing to see. The boardwalk had nice views but was short. The trail after that was more suited to walking.

Spanish Moss Trail

Easy Summer ride

July, 2026 by robertrollins28079

Wife, son, & I chose the Spanish Moss Trail, for a ride last Friday, July 10th. We started later in the day, around 4pm & started on Depot Street & headed South to the trail end in Port Royal. After checking out Port Royal, we headed back to the Depot Street parking area, where wife & son called it quits, while I decided to finish up the remaining length. The trail is extremely scenic & very well maintained. Trail was sparsely in use during our afternoon, don't recall seeing a soul during my finishing of northern segment, other than a few people, not bike riding, possibly homeless hanging around the area where the trail traverses a large inlet or marsh area, but they caused no issues or concerns. Would highly recommend this trail. It was a hot day, well past warm conditions, however most of trail offered adequate shade making the ride pleasant. The only critique I would offer is that the trail stops in Port Royal, in a neighborhood about a mile before where I thought it would end. I assumed it would go all the way to the end of Port Royal, at Battery Creek. We used surface streets to reach the water, but was mostly guess work as signs ran out near the trail's end.

Truman Linear Park Trail

Welcome relief from hot summer day

July, 2026 by robertrollins28079

Spouse, adult son with disabilities and i rode the truman linear trail in early july 2026. It was a super hot day with temps in the high 90's. I was worried the brutal heat would create a miserable ride however there was ample shade throughout our trip to keep things pleasant. Before we knew it, we had reached the end and had gotten on the police memorial trail. We continued to where we thought the memorial trail ended and then took surface streets 5o downtown Savannah along the river. We had a nice lunch and wife and son explored downtown, while i rode back to where we left our vehicle at Mayer park. Only criticism of the trail is that it isnt well marked, other than yellow painted lines down the middle. Signage would be appredciated, along with some distance markers. Other than that, a good trail, smooth, level, and lots of shade.

S&S Greenway

About half of it is in the shade a really nice ride. It was 95 today and my wife and I made with no trouble. Stopped and ate at Olive Garden on the way back.

Spanish Moss Trail

beginner friendly and enough sure and rest

April, 2026 by nkb9knthgm

We are beginning to train to do a distance ride and we really enjoyed this ride starting out. An easy 20 miles and close enough to have some good eats nearby. Most of the trail felt pleasant with the upper portion feeling a like - off- but nothing a pair can’t handle.

Spanish Moss Trail

there are trails with parking and water

This is a lovely ride, especially at sunset when the light sparkles off the water. If you park at Publix, there is a little sidewalk on the side that goes right to the trail. No road crossings needed.
