Katy Trail State Park

New Franklin to Rocheport

October, 2021 by cwrustin

We have ridden the trail over 25 years, camping along the trail using the Katy Trail Guide Book. We just camped at the Katy Roundhouse this fall and rode west the first day, and east to Rocheport and beyond the second day. We were very disappointed to find that because a bridge was out we had to ride on Highway 40, for over 2 miles, with cars and trucks speeding along at 50 to 60 miles per hour, and not slowing or giving a wide berth at all. We were on trikes, so felt very vulnerable, but met other users who were not happy about the situation either. Had there been a warning about this situation, we would have trucked the bikes over to Rocheport.

133rd Street Path

roadside trail. odd layout

September, 2021 by m5nq7y9hmc

This is a good bike ride for us but as you can see on the trial map it’s in 4 parts and that necessitates street riding between the 4 parts. We’ve only used the 3 east most parts but will ride the other part before winter. I’d recommend but maybe not with kids as the places between paths are on busy streets

Tomahawk Creek Trail

pretty trail and busy on weekends

September, 2021 by m5nq7y9hmc

Have taken this trail both on foot and via bike. Great trail with views of the creek but is really busy on weekends. Rode most recently on a Sunday morning and needed to slow down a lot to pass walkers. Would recommend especially during the week

Indian Creek Bike/Hike Trail

beautiful trail. busy

September, 2021 by m5nq7y9hmc

Rode this and much of the Leawood south loop. The trail along the creek is pretty but on a Sunday morning was really busy. Lots of walkers, dogs, and other bikers. That said it’s close to the house and has some pretty bridges and creek views

Katy Trail State Park

Nice Rail Trail, Decent surface

September, 2021 by stvatandem

We rode this trail from the Daniel Boone Bridge (I-64) to St Charles for lunch at the Bike Stop Cafe. The trail is well maintained and is shaded by trees most of the way. The section adjacent to Greens Bottom Rd is exposed (no shade, except late afternoon). The trail is EASY to follow and is pretty level. The city of St Charles has businesses close to the trail.

Katy Trail State Park

First 9 miles!

September, 2021 by alyssajoycabrera

My family of 4 did 9 miles on the Katy Trail starting at Cooper’s Landing. It was well maintained, a great combo of tree cover/no tree cover, and I could have stopped for photo opt after photo opt! Beautiful trail!!! Coopers landing was a great stop with yummy food trucks and terrific people watching!

Longview Lake Trail (MO)

great for beginners

We just bought new bikes and wanted to ride a local trail and chose Longview lake. It was well maintained and was an easy ride and not too challenging at all.

The trail was well maintained and was perfect for beginners like us. It was flat enough to enjoy on a 90 degree day and not die.

Rock Island Spur of Katy Trail State Park

Northern Section in Lee's Summit & Raytown

August, 2021 by normanbowers

Trail is now 13.6 miles as has just been opened from downtown Raytown to the sports complex. Surface is smooth and trail surroundings are safe. South of downtown Raytown the surface is mostly rock, and signs say not to ride the rock sections when wet. From Raytown north the trail is concrete but doesn't follow the railroad grade and has some good hills. South of Raytown the trail is shaded, not much shade north of Raytown. Water is only available at Hartman Park in Lee's Summit, which also has modern rest rooms.

Indian Creek Bike/Hike Trail

Great for dogs!

July, 2021 by chanteevans7

We took our 3 dogs on a walk here and it was great! The bikers were super friendly and so were the other pedestrians. My dogs really enjoyed the creek too!
