We are trying out our ebikes. A little concerned with signage stating no motorized units, except for wheelchairs. As we understand it now after some research, ebikes are OK as long as speed is below 20mph. No problem with us keeping it under! There is s small section that is not paved. A very small section. The signage directs you on to the county rd, but I was not comfortable to do that s yet, as we are still getting acquainted with our ebikes. The unpaved portion is just fine. Maybe a wee bit gravely, but I felt under control. If you go, take the slight detour to Gene Stratton Porter Historic Site. So pretty!
This is the best bike trail I have ever ridden on¿¿ Beautifully paved and scenic. There could be better signs where it crosses Highway 20 in Meddlebury but thanks to other riders we found it¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿. Look for garden snakes on the trail.
I started this trail at Bailey Park and headed towards downtown. This has a little bit of everything to see, including boardwalk, animals, and beautiful scenery. It is easy to navigate and explore with various side paths to take you on. The trail is well maintained with several spots to take a break, even a spot to grab a bite to eat. This was a good day on the trail.
My husband and I road this trail this past weekend. We started at the Galesburg Augusta primary school in Galesburg and road west to just beyond the nature center before turning around. There are several signs on this trail showing support from the various communities yet it appears no one has done anything other than mowing alongside it in quite a while. There are small tree branches all along the trail, including one downed tree. And it looks like recent rain showers have deposited a lot of sand and small stone in several spots. One particular section had a lot of homeless people. They were no issues but it is just something good to know for families taking small children on this road
What a great scenic ride. Well maintained. Connecting cities take pride. Can't wait to do Elkhart to Shipshewanna. Only did Goshen to Ship today.
A few hills, but for the most part, pretty easy trail. Well maintained. A few spots where you have to go on county roads.
Started in Rome City and road to Kendallville and back it was very enjoyable A lot of areas that are dense with trees
The stretch from Shipshewana to Middlebury was an amazing ride- straight, flat and through Amish farms and woods!
Thank you to all who made this happen and all that continue its upkeep. What a gem!
Just recently moved to MI and I have always been a avid bike rider. I seen some incredible parks with bike trails, and this park I have to say was one of the best. The trail is very nice and very scenic not to mention the cleanliness of the trail is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the morning bike ride. I only went 8 miles out of the 10 miles and turned around. My next trip I will go the entire way.
Pretty much like what other reviews are showing... not maintained whatsoever!! Was much worse through the Jonesville portion of the ride. Maybe most frustrating was how poorly the route was marked out. With a little work it could be a nice bike ride route. It passes right by a couple of places that serve food and drinks, seems these businesses would try to take advantage of this and do something to draw people in
This trail is a short distance from my home. Traveled it for almost 20 years. Badly needs resurfacing. I hope they don’t just let it go. Still able to ride just painful on the spine when you hit those “speed bumps” every few yards. Love the nice little connector from the path to Kibby rd. Not sure what they named that little section.
