Rode west from Ellensburg in September

September, 2023 by slseger

We rented a car one way to Ellensburg with two bikes. Only option was Enterprise and it worked great. Trail started close to downtown. While we had a headwind on day one it made day two easy with considerable downhill. Towns especially Cle Elum were fun to visit. Excellent camping along the trail and bathroom facilities are abundant. While we did the ride in two days, recommend slowing down a bit and doing thee days of riding. Do this ride!

Lewiston Levee Parkway Trail

Pretty Nice….. but

September, 2023 by c4prvb5zvn

The trail from the Clearwater bridge to Hells Gate SP is my review area. The State Park reminded me that all the fees they charge for upkeep on their beautiful park. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for Goatheads ( puncture vine, ground weed with yellow flowers ) that will ruin most a bicyclist day and the trail gets considerably narrower in the SP. Just wish the Rangers @ the State Park rode bicycles too!

Columbia Plateau Trail State Park

Not bike-friendly

September, 2023 by caultpen

Scenery is gorgeous, trailheads have facilities well maintained, useful signage along but... the trail surface is a coarse loose gravel that rattles the bicycle and makes the tires sink. The only usage of the trail is for fat tire bikes perhaps.

Bill Chipman Palouse Trail

Flat, yes, but….

August, 2023 by aggriffus

Id rate this trail a C- overall for a couple of reasons. The biggest drawback is the overfilled cracks which have been poorly managed. These bumps are hard to take on a rigid frame road bike and they are frequent—as in every few yards. The continual jarring diminishes the riders experience overall. Secondly, as of late August 2023, the bridge near Pullman is out. Some local kids decided to party there and burned the bridge. There is a detour that takes you onto Highway 8, but that’s never enjoyable to ride a busy highway. I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to ride the trail, bu rid you happen to be in the area and want to do a short ride it’s okay.

Ed Corkill Memorial River Trail

Nice but dirty

August, 2023 by aggriffus

I completed this trail from end to end and it is a nice, short trail for an easy ride. The issue that I saw was it was quite dirty. There were a lot of seeds, fruit, dirt, twigs, weeds, sticks, and rocks over the trail so be aware. Overall it’s good for doing some short rides, using it for sprint training or a family ride.

This is my top 5 of all time bike trails. It is paved and goes 73 miles one way. There are bathrooms every so many miles and fantastic views. There is a bridge with look out and other beautiful lake views. A must see trail!!

Great ride on a mountain bike

July, 2023 by konshukb

I rode from The Fish Lake Trailhead on the Cheney end. Because of the reviews, I rode my mountain bike with 2.8 tires. I would struggle with my road bike even with my 700cx40 tires, I think. On my mountain bike the trail was great. Beautiful scenery and wildlife (birds, turtles, marmots, chipmunks). Due to time constraints, I could only ride about 15 miles out. I will be riding the trail again, this time starting at Amber Lake to explore the conditions, probably make it a day and see how far I get. But I do recommend a mountain bike for this terrain from the Cheney Trailhead on.
