Four Freedoms Trail

needs some love

October, 2025 by 6mr7vdn7dd

Wife and I rode the entire trail. The trail seemed to have had the shoulders recently mowed but there was a lot of small limbs and large grass clumps on the trail from mowing discharge. The last 100 yards of the trail to the river is on a gravel drive. The point where the asphalt ends and this gravel drive needs a sign to tell you that you’re almost at the end. It’s very sketchy at the very end by the river. There were a few tables and shelter there. There were bumps in the asphalt from tree roots growing under the trail. Read the description of the parking for the trail head in MadisonThe trail has potential but just needs some love.

Nice Trail

September, 2025 by stumpknocker

Staying at the campground in Newport which is a two mile ride to get to the trail, but there’s a paved trail all the way there. Went a few miles south to St Marks, then north about a mile beyond the northern parking area. More road noise on the northern end, but mostly quiet ride for the southern 3/4 of the trail.

Tom White Linear Park

the trail is in good shape for riding

June, 2025 by mkpearson1

My wife and I rode the trail on 6-22-2025 with gravel bikes . Most of the trail is in very good shape. There are a couple of spots with sand over the trail but most is asphalt. Half of the trail is shaded so recommend morning or evening ride.

Four Freedoms Trail

loved it

May, 2025 by bendtheredonethat

So it’s a bit rough in spots, some of the macadam is bad in a few places, but it’s a trail ride so that’s ok by me. You want perfect roads, ride on the highway. The ride down to the river is nice with a great lunch spot.

Years of trail neglect and last seasons hurricanes have made this potentially wonderful trail not worth your effort to locate.

Tom White Linear Park

Not what I expected

December, 2024 by bpack73

Needed a paved trail for a run. Parked at Wesley Ball Park and ran 1.5mi then turned around. Not what I expected based on reviews. The trail itself was good but lots of trash surrounding it and stray dogs on this section.

We rode the trail today October 7, 2024. We got on at the parking lot at 4778 Woodville Highway. Plenty of spaces to park. The trail is very level with nicely maintained asphalt. We even saw a man in a “Gator” vehicle blowing off the path and cleaning the bathrooms. It is almost completely shaded. You cross several small streets with almost no traffic. The path pretty much parallels the Woodville Highway but you don’t have any worries about traffic. I wish we had time to go further into town around the capital. Nice ride!

Four Freedoms Trail

Great Trail if maintained

August, 2024 by jmckenna1960

After the two big storms this year, there are trees that are down all over both sides , directly blocking the trail. Small branches and leaves cover 50% of it. A couple teams with chainsaw and a brush cleaner machine could take care of this in less than a couple days. I sure hope it’s soon as this trail is fantastic.

Lafayette Heritage Trail

Great location

This park is connected to Tom Brown Park and JR Alford Park. Great place to walk or ride bikes. We rode E Bikes. Bathrooms, water fountain etc. Trails are marked, wide and somewhat smooth. There are exposed roots on some parts of the

Coastal Trail

Plenty of Distance

May, 2024 by evada

About a mile of sidewalk in Panacea. Trail proper picks up again at intersection with Division St (south bound), where there is "casual" parking across the street.

Coastal Trail

We really enjoyed riding this trail. Long spaces of curvy trail. I was confused in Panacea, FL, since there were several road crossings. Not much for shade. Plenty of gas stations on the route & a rest area when it intersects with St. Marks trail.

Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail

great trail!

We started at the St Marks trailhead with plenty of parking right on the waterway. The trail was nicely paved and safely away from the road. There was plenty of shade trees and bathrooms every few miles. We only rode 8 miles north and then turned back but I highly recommend this bike trail.
