Four Freedoms Trail

Needs Maintenance

December, 2023 by sweetm40

Beautiful trail but dangerous due to lack of maintenance. Signs missing at intersections, overgrown in areas, downed trees blocking the path and major asphalt buckling.
Contacted FDOT to inquire about maintenance, FDOT referred me to Madison Public Works and provided contact information. Sent an e-mail requesting maintenance but did not receive a response. Hope to try it again someday.

Columbus Day ride

October, 2023 by seashell_cottage

We visited Madison RV resort on our way home. We found this bike trail on your app. It is a 12 mile ride one way, we rode 8 miles of this trail. It was a nice relaxing ride.I have to give a big thumbs up to the entinty that cleaned the trail after the hurricane. It was completely clear of any obstacles. The first 7 miles were clear biking, at which time the trail was getting a tad rooty. Mother Nature is winning the tree root intrusion.I would give this trail an absolute go and rideable

Four Freedoms Trail

Has potential

May, 2023 by pitsplace

I’m going to echo some of the other reviews. It has potential but it needs some maintenance. There are a lot areas where roots have heaved up the asphalt bad and there not marked. It needs to be cleared of limbs and twigs and it isn’t marked real clearly at places as to which way you should go makes it a one and done for us. Trails like Gainesville, Jacksonville or West Orange are on a completely different level. Rode May10, 2023.

Trail improved . Recommend this trail.

April, 2023 by vc2019

Parked downtown at Wesley Ball Park and rode the trail. Some shade and some sun along the trail. This is trail is getting attention. There are trail improvements at the airport end and looks like someone has marked road hazards /warning. Thanks!

Coastal Trail

Thanks FLDOT, great trail

We rode the trail from Panacea at a closed shopping center all the way to St Marks trail. Nice 18 miles one way. The trail was asphalt, great shape and recently mowed edges. Wish Ga had these trails near us. Very impressed!

Coastal Trail

Trail now completed through panacea

March, 2023 by jfletc3233_tl

The trail is now completed through panacea to the ochlockonee bay bridge. In the town of Panacea the trail turns into a sidewalk. But as the trail and sidewalk is new the ride is smooth. 36 of us rode the trail this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed being able to ride all the way from downtown Tallahassee to Sopchoppy without riding on the road. We now have four trails that connect together to make this possible. The capital cascades trail from down town Tallahassee meets up with the St Marks Trail which connects to the coastal trail. The coastal trail takes you all the way to the ochlockonee bay bridge where it meets the Ochlockonee Bay trail.

Coastal Trail

There are now 17 miles of trail completed. It stops just before Panacea. I would recommend starting early as there is very little shade. The trail is in excellent shape.

Four Freedoms Trail

great trail

December, 2022 by 47bdk2dqsr

Don’t listen to the crybabies on those last reviews. This is a great trail. It’s quite unbelievable that this little gem exists here. Kind of in the middle of know where. Then when you get to Madison there is actually a nice coffee shop to get a cup of Joe before you head back. Nice 14 mile trail. 28 miles out and back.

Trail needs some love

Good route except for .5 mile near traffic. The trail needs to be cleaned off and add warnings about bumpy pavement.

Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail

A flat out and back

September, 2022 by robert.richter89

I began my ride at the North Trailhead in Tallahassee and ended almost 16 miles at the southern terminus in St. Marks. It was a very hot Labor Day but the trail is almost entirely shaded which provided relief from the sun. The trail is entirely paved, completely flat and well marked. There a few cracks in places that might give you a shake but won't cause you to pop a tire. There are many very small road crossing but I can count on one hand how many cars I encountered on them. The one or two larger road crossings were also very quiet. There are many shaded benches to rest and there are about three or four bathrooms along the trail but I can't comment on their condition.

My only complaint is the lack of scenery, its mostly flanked by small homes, brush and runs next to a residential street for the majority of the trail. St. Marks is a great little place to get something to eat along the river and enjoy a much deserved rest.

Good trail from downtown. A number of stops through town. Trail gets rough near the airport, southern end of trail - not good to go fast on road bikes; tree roots lifting the blacktop. Scenic, relaxing ride.

Miccosukee Greenway

A Gem!

July, 2022 by doubled3

Two of us rode on July 16th, 2022. This was our 2nd foray but this time we started at the parking lot on Fleischman Road. A wide packed gravel trail that is just hilly enough. There are a few open areas but 90-95 percent of the trail is shaded. We logged 14.8 miles on our out and back ride and did not go on any side trails - yet. Available toilet facilities were clean and in good repair. We look forward to riding here on our next visit. Do not depend on water fountains as anything can happen at any time. Bring plenty of water if it's summer. The temp when we returned to the car was 100 degrees F in the open parking lot. The shade on most of the trail made it comfortable to ride.
