Granger Paths

Bring Headphones

It's a decent trail for locals but with unending noise for traffic and with nothing to see, I might consider skipping unless you're local.

Rode just about 8 miles on the Palos Hills end. Beautiful paved trail, beautiful weather on 8/24/25. Definitely would ride again.

My 1st Chicagoland Bike Adventure

August, 2025 by rmhookfamily

After riding 7,000 or so miles since 2019; all over the country (but primarily N IL, Iowa, WI); today is the day I got to enjoy a paved trail in Cook County. We parked in the west and rode to East end in Alsip and back. Roughly 25 miles round trip. Hot humid and windy 92F. I felt like shade was about 50% of trail length. It is a Great trail as in you do not even know you are in one of the busiest counties in the nation. I wish we could figure out how to connect from Alsip to the lakefront. We tried to bike about a mile further east on the road but then it started to seem like an industrial park so we turned around.

Nickel Plate Trail

Gold plated

Started at Lovers Lane Parking lot on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and went half way out and back. The trail is up all the way, but not so much as to dampen your spirits or your legs.
Beautiful countryside with a mix of shaded woods and open fields. An occasional small town as well. Little to no cars in the road crossings.
We did not experience the on road riding at Peru but will be back to ride the northern section.
Just a beautiful trail that we will ride again.

Northerly Island Trail

it’s cool,

June, 2025 by mrjocasio

It’s not the ideal path, but to see the city from a different perspective, it’s cool. Little confusing to maneuver, but it’s cool. Nice beach on one side. I like it. I recommend it, but can be confusing.

Chicago Lakefront Trail

my favorite place in the world

I do this trail at least 3 times a week, it’s a beautiful trail. You can get lost if you don’t know it. Stick to the trail close to drive. I know it all too well so I don’t get lost. But the scenery coming around the corner of Fullerton is just spectacular, the view north from the museum campus is amazing. I love this trail and it’s my comfort zone.

LaSalle Trail

Good Tail

It has a nice round trip, with mostly smooth pavement except by Roseland park, so maybe skip that section.

Mishawaka Riverwalk

Okay

It's an okay trail with a nice round trip, and some enjoyable sights.

Coal Line Trail

Very Nice

Nice and open to nature with a brief urban stint with not too many road crossings.

I would recommend this trail to anyone looking.
