The trail is pretty rough the entire time, never once being smooth, and unless you have a fat tire bike, you're going to feel every tree root (which are plentiful) and branch. This isn't worth the effort unless you're a local or intend to walk it. Nothing worth even seeing on the trail.
My wife and I took our Onewheel GTs on this trail, and it was very peaceful. Took us about 30 minutes to get from Kendallville to Rome City. If you bring a Onewheel, be sure to be mindful of cyclists and joggers.
The trail is getting widened so it will no longer be a glorified sidewalk. The surface will be asphalt. I can't wait to give it another chance!
If you want nature this is not the trail for you. Spent most of the trail crossing roads and watching out for cars.
It was hot and muggy, but under the canopy of trees it was wonderful. Some hills, but not too bad. This is one of my top three bike trails.
Very nice shaded trail. Would ride it again
I’m not sure how this trail is a 5 star trail? The surface is mediocre with fragments, roots, and bumps. It’s confusing with multiple turns and trail closures. It’s unsafe with crossings at busy intersections and sections running along side busy roads. My husband and I used our road bikes. We were disappointed with the section we rode. Maybe other sections are better? We will not be returning or recommending this trail to others for biking.
It’s a fun trail only downfall is there’s no where to park at the start of the trail unless you park at the ymca the only place is at yeoman park which is like starting in the middle of the trail.
It’s a fun little trail with a lot of nature to admire
Rode this trail last year. Started in Goshen and headed toward Middlebury. There is a large section of trail that is exposed to the wind. Chose a calm day, it’s not pleasant riding into a 20 mph wind!¿
We bike this nearly every day. Easy access from our home. Great shad and wind block with only a few hills.
