Now you can ride on asphalt all the way from Gene Stratton Porter to Kendallville.
We attempted to ride this trail in two different towns. The trail has not been kept up. Some areas had Thick Loose gravel and other areas it was a grassy field with no path. We couldn’t ride it. No stars can be given!
great place to walk w/shaded walkways. just wish there were more parking areas to pick the trail up from different locations of trail.
Very pretty paved trail.
It's a nice, quiet, and hidden in between housing associations and business parks. Very relaxing beautiful trail. Lots of resting areas but no restrooms or portable restrooms except for one at Ludwig and SmithFieldairport.
Very good trail and lake, great workout and beautiful scenery.
Only ride thru the park/lake area. If you leave the park it’s all sidewalks and main streets. The lake is beautiful to look at but that’s about it!!
My wife and I rode this trail from Krider Garden in Middlebury to Shipsewana and back (about 15 miles). The last 1/2 mile was on a road to town. We rode in the lane typically used by the Amish buggies. The trail was paved, mostly shady, flat and well maintained. It was very scenic. The trail goes thru an area predominantly farmed by the Amish. The farms, barns and houses are well kept. It appears the community is flourishing. We ate in Shipsewana. The town has a lot of services.
Walking thru Krider garden was also a treat.
We are trying out our ebikes. A little concerned with signage stating no motorized units, except for wheelchairs. As we understand it now after some research, ebikes are OK as long as speed is below 20mph. No problem with us keeping it under! There is s small section that is not paved. A very small section. The signage directs you on to the county rd, but I was not comfortable to do that s yet, as we are still getting acquainted with our ebikes. The unpaved portion is just fine. Maybe a wee bit gravely, but I felt under control. If you go, take the slight detour to Gene Stratton Porter Historic Site. So pretty!
This is the best bike trail I have ever ridden on¿¿ Beautifully paved and scenic. There could be better signs where it crosses Highway 20 in Meddlebury but thanks to other riders we found it¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿. Look for garden snakes on the trail.
What a great scenic ride. Well maintained. Connecting cities take pride. Can't wait to do Elkhart to Shipshewanna. Only did Goshen to Ship today.
A few hills, but for the most part, pretty easy trail. Well maintained. A few spots where you have to go on county roads.
