Atlantic County Bikeway

Atlantic County Bike Way ~ West, Anyone?

October, 2018 by bonsaimtb

Everyone who's posted a review in on the Money about what to expect on the Atlantic County Bike Way. It's a Straight Shot from the EHT Shore Mall, West to Mays Landings ACIT Atlantic County Institute of Technology. The Path itself is in Great condition that receives little use making it idea for those who require speed, fitness and Strava~Ass times ;). The Scenery isn't picturesque, unless you enjoy Pine Tree and Huckelberry Bush scenery. It feels more like a straight paved trail through the woods with traffic you can't see on either side of you. Nonetheless, if your looking for seclusion from horrific Traffic in the area and open space to ride or run, this is your Oasis. When the AC Bike Way is finally completed, it will run from EHT, NJ Shore Mall, all the way to the Buena Campground in Buena, NJ. Making the Total Distance from end to end 23.6 miles long. Not bad for all day bike excursion with several interesting stops along the way ;)

Above is my take on the Atlantic County Bike Way ~ East, I'm more concerned with the County, State and Outside Enthusists funding and building the Atlantic County Bike Way ~ West. For those who don't know, the AC Bike Way is Divide into 2 separate Bike Way's and the Middle Point is Mays Landing, NJ. The Bike Way West WILL be a very secluded Ride, but has a lot of potential in becoming a must do Day Trip/Ride. The reason I say this is because there is so much to stop and see on the AC Bike Way. Here is a short list of places you won't want to miss on your Ride ~ Tuckahoe Micro Brew, Lazy Eye Vodka Distillery, Funny Farm Animal Rescue AND the Baltic Winery. All these business are free to visit (Adult Beverage Establishment offer free Adult Beverage tasting to those of legal age and will offer discounts to Bike Way users when the Bike Way is up and running) All these business are located a 100 yards or less from the AC Bike Way ~ West.

If you have a interest in getting the AC Bike Way ~ West completed, please sign up for my Atlantic County Bike Way ~ West, Facebook Page. Thanks ;)

Cooper River Park

Good for some miles

September, 2018 by timmy0728

If in the area and want to get a run in, this 4 mile loop around the river is nice. A chance to see some rowing teams is cool. The view of Philly is a pleasant sight when crossing over the bridges at either end.

Pennypack Trail

Worth The Drive!

August, 2018 by georgepc

Took this trail for the first time from the Bayberry Trailhead south. It's only slightly more than 5 miles one direction, but a really nice, scenic drive along side the creek most of the way. Path is very smooth so any type of bike tire is no problem. Some slight upgrades, but really no big deal for even the average riders. Along the path on weekends there is even a food truck and some picnic tables set up for a quick bite to eat. Plus there are numerous benches along the way to stop and snack. The trailhead has a parking lot, but it is not very big. When we were there on a picture perfect Sunday afternoon, the lot was pretty full, maybe holds around 40- 50 cars. We drove from Jersey about 50 miles to get there and I plan on going back.

Buena Borough Bike Path

Great for beginners or leasure ride

August, 2018 by toothfairy65mrm

I enjoyed this bike trail. Great for the non-pro riders who just wanted a nice bike ride. The trail begins at the park. Paved trail with no difficult hills.
Mostly shaded. Ride continues past a meadow which I am sure will be beautiful in the fall. It is a short trail, approx 2 mi but was good enough for me! It may be perfect for the families who ride with younger kids.

D&L Trail

Beat Me Up A Bit...

August, 2018 by lou.behrman

This is the tail of two rides. The one going out... And the one coming back...

I joined the trail at the Virginia Forrest trail head north of New Hope. I'm riding an ICE Adventure HD recumbent trike and heading north to Uhlerstown.

The ride up was gorgeous... Nice warm weather, not a lot of traffic, really picturesque. The trail is basically flat with the exception of a few quick climbs at the lock sites. I had an issue with just one where there was a lot of loose stone on that quick climb. That's really the issue when climbing with a 'bent trike. Keeping the traction to the ground. I had just a little problem that I overcame with a little repeated effort.

The problem started with about 6 miles left in the ride on the return trip. The "problem" being the trail became what I'm going to call a single-track. Instead of a nice wide cinder lane, it became a single track of cinder that was just wide enough for a walker or someone on a bicycle. I'm riding a nice wide trike, so two of my tires were in the grass all the time and I felt like I was riding a high resistance trainer for the last 6 miles. So, between that and the increased heat, I was pretty cooked by the time I got back to my truck.

Now, I did ride this stretch going out. But being fresh, it didn't affect me the way it did on the way back. I'm giving this review 4 stars because it is a beautiful ride. And for walkers and folks on bikes, my issues won't be their issues.

I'm going to be interested in finding out if the single track was an anomaly of the stretch I rode, or if it's prevalent the entire length of the trail. I know that the upper portion of the ride the trail was wide and the ride comfortable. I just had an issue with that last 6 miles when the temps climbed into the 90s and my brain was cooking.

Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail

Wonderful Peaceful Trail

August, 2018 by heochief

We rode this trail late afternoon to twilight and found it delightful. The trail hugs the canal and is mostly on crushed stone but very smooth and firm. we saw a ton of wildlife and the scenery was beautiful. Lots of shade mixed with open areas for sun. We will return to this area and ride the entire trail from trailhead to trailhead. We joined the trail just outside of Robbinsville N.J.. Gorgeous ride at a great time of the day with great weather.

closure in Easton

August, 2018 by kjnerz

Was on Trail today between Bethlehem and Easton. The last mile to Easton is currently closed because of the recent heavy rains. Also the area around Old Orchard is fairly muddy and some trees are down. Some erosion in trail because of rain.

Sandy Hook Multi-Use Pathway

5 Star!

July, 2018 by hdglide07

Absolutely love this trail. First off, get there early. Sandy Hook is a popular place and after 9 on the weekends there will be a wait at the entrance to get in.

You can park anywhere and jump on the trail. It's paved and a smooth ride. The view is great and changes from water to trees and back. There aren't really any hills to worry about so it's mostly easy pedaling.

I usually rig a chair to the bike and stop off on the bay side to relax for bit.

D&L Trail

very nice trail

July, 2018 by SPanny

Rode this train from White Haven to Jim Thorpe on 7/5/18. Shuttle from Blue Mountain Sports in Jim Thorpe was friendly and convenient; we parked our car at the day parking lot near downtown, which is situated at the end of the trail. The trail itself is cinder and crushed stone; we used hybrid bikes which were perfect (I wouldn't recommend a road bike). As advertised it's a slight downhill, but you still have to pedal to get where you're going! Most of the route is shaded and gives you nice views of the river. One caution: the last 30 minutes or so to the southern end (Jim Thorpe) are not shaded and thus took the wind out of our sails at the end a bit. There are other lots you can park in besides the day lot that are a little further up the trail, but I don't know how that would work with the shuttle. All in all, very nice trail and worth the trip.
