Chaparral Rail Trail

Muddy Ride

May, 2020 by mefeney

The first 2.5 miles are paved out of Farmersville. The next 2.5 miles is crushed rock. It was great for the first 5 miles. I was hoping to do the entire 35 miles but I hit the great Texas Peanut butter soil (TX Clay). After riding through the first section and cleaning the mud off the bike I hit another section. I bailed the trail and went for a pleasant 36 mile ride on the farm roads. Riding the shoulder of 78 is pretty sketchy and I would t recommend it.

Rowlett Creek Trail

Meh

May, 2020 by marlon_monsalve

Wasn’t impressed. Narrow pathes, not overly clean. Was hoping trails from McKinney can connect into Allen and Plano but not so much.

Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve Trail

Oak Point Nature Preserve

May, 2020 by marlon_monsalve

This is a hidden gem right in the middle of Collin County. I have enjoyed this trail recently and plan to make it my primary destination as much as possible. Absolutely enjoy the trails and quiet nature of the park.

Preston Ridge Trail

good not great.

May, 2020 by ajkirk11

Unless I missed it the trail map doesn’t call out all of the intersections where you must stop and at some points weight a while for traffic to slow. It’s difficult to get up to speed for a substantial amount of time but it’s still a solid ride. Found a couple water fountains on the way but there are few - so stop if you need it. Rode a bike on the trail. * also not a ding against the trail but I missed the turnoff and accidentally went do a wrong stretch and had to double back. Not a big deal but pay attention.

Chisholm Trail

Solid trail

April, 2020 by ajkirk11

Great trail with a lot of curves. The trail gets a little boring at parts but still better than the roads. Note: got lost and turned on the Blue Bonnet trail, had to circle back - not a critique on the trail more of an FYI.

Cottonwood Creek Trail (Allen)

Great city ride

April, 2020 by ajkirk11

Nice ride with plenty of curves. A little easy to get off trail which makes it fun. I suggest this trail hands down.

Cottonwood Creek Trail (Allen)

Great trail

College Parkway Hike and Bike Trail

simple trail, clean and moderate foot traffic

April, 2020 by ajkirk11

Road my bike through this trail jumping up to Main Street. The trail was a nice break from the toad. Don’t plan on getting up to speed but it’s a nice shortcut to get up to Main Street. Check it out.

Hoblitzelle Park Trail

solid trail lots of pedestrian traffic

April, 2020 by ajkirk11

Good trail, it isn’t a preferable loop but offers a fresh ride if you’re tired of the old. Don’t expect to get up to speed, too many turn and more than enough foot traffic. Solid average trail.

Trail de Paris

great paved trail, shaded

March, 2020 by esbee2

Connecting with Reno and Blossom trails gives about 10 miles of paved biking and hiking fun. There are water fountains, covered picnic tables, a little library, mile markers and of course, bathrooms. Lots of bird life, squirrels, occasional snake and of course lots of trees making for a shaded ride. ---- This is the best part of the trail that runs from Farmersville to New Boston, which many of those other sections are not yet paved.

Chisholm Trail

Easy riding

March, 2020 by mmezedd_tl

The Chisholm Trail is a well maintained, paved, neighborhood ride that passes behind many beautiful houses and shopping areas and connects many small playgrounds. It is wide, well marked and mostly flat and goes underneath any major road so is a continuous ride. . It is mostly sunny and exposed. There is no parking at Chisholm Trail Park at one end but you can park in a nearby elementary school on Marchman Way. The easiest parking is at the other end at Harrington Park. The Bluebonnet trail links with it near the dog park. I have found conflicting sites stating the distance of the completed loop from Legacy Drive to Harrington park down one side and then back the other side of the creek.
