Sets the Standard for a Tennessee Greenway

July, 2018 by edmcanally

Wonderful example of uniting retail, residential and recreational facilities. The park is as functional as it is recreational and boasts tasteful public art and a good balance of sponsor recognition. Plenty of shelters, restrooms, and benches dot the trail. Trail lighting extends usefulness. However, the Creek is the main attraction. Undergrowth really should be cut away in many places to expose the massive rocks and noisy cascades. One of the best greenways I've experienced.

Very nice ride!

Excellent use of boardwalks to make this trail accessible. A most enjoyable outing!

Chattanooga Riverwalk (Tennessee Riverpark)

wonderful time and scenic views

July, 2018 by ejthfcc

I tried the trail from both ends. The Dam side offers some superb views of the river and the marsh area and quite a number of wildlife along the way. The downtown side offered a great view of the historic and industrial era of the city and a number of good views of the city riverfront and opportunities to digress up to the Aquarium and downtown. The center of the trail is a bit confusing. I needed to ask several folk how to stay on trail, especially around the Hunter museum. Signage needs improved there and at other points where the trail options point in multiple directions.

Dont start at Ross's crossing, confusing as all hell

June, 2018 by d33psp33d

This is a new fav usa scenic bike path, my biggest gripe is most reviews suggest parking/starting at Ross's Crossing. This is a good spot to park if you are familiar with the bike path however if it is your first time you will be thoroughly confused, as there is ZERO signage, many stairs to climb which will have you scratching your head "am I really on a bike path?" many streets that have auto traffic, again; "this cant be the bike path". Once you clear these confusing obstacles you will be well on your way to a great ride, or you could just start at (Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar)/vicinity and avoid all this confusing BS.

Simms Mountain Trail

Great for kids

We didn't complete the trail but it was perfect for the kids (10 and 7). It was dirt and gravel with some hills but not too challenging.

Bridgeport Walking Trail-February 2018

February, 2018 by tltrumbull

We had a wonderful time walking the trail, seeing the old train depot and antique trains...but, our greatest thrill was encountering an active freight train on the parallel train tracks while crossing the beautiful pedestrian bridge this morning. The very friendly Conductors gave us several nice whistle blows and we enjoyed waving back at them. The walk across the Tennessee River on the old train trestle was a truly beautiful experience. Many thanks to all in Bridgeport.

Loved This Trail

November, 2017 by wwpppp

We drove up from Jacksonville, AL, where we ride the Chief Ladiga Bike Trail quite often. Riverwalk Trail was a wonderful surprise. The only negative was we felt that the trail could have been marked better, but, we will definitely be back. The views are amazing and the trail is VERY well maintained.

Heritage Park Trail

Poorly marked

August, 2017 by wilsonjan55

My husband and I drove down from Cleveland TN after reading about the Heritage Park Trail online. The pictures online made it very appealing. However, the directions to find the park and walking trails were zero. Our GPS system brought us to a left turn in the town and we were left on her own to find the park We found a boat ramp and a small playground that some children were playing on I asked a lady there if she could tell me where the trails were. She thought if we took the walkway around where the children were playing it would put us on the trail and take us down next to the Atlanta Braves park. We ended up at what look like a sewer treatment plant. There were no markings on the trail to say go this way or go that way. We could see a beautiful historic area across the river but wasn't sure how to get there. On our return back after about 2 miles in the sun and passing a sewage treatment plant we decided to take a bridge across to the other side where we found a very pleasant walking trail. If you advertise your trail, you should give some definite directions for the trail and there should be signs along the way identifying how many miles and what's up ahead. Maps identifying all of the historical buildings would even be nice. Unfortunately we were on a time crunch and regret we didn't get to see the best part of this trail. Not likely to come back.

Boardwalks in the Woods - North Section

June, 2017 by ajw

We parked at Riverpoint park, and rode to the end where it turns to gravel (just past Bonny Oaks Dr.). 10mi round trip. They must have spent a mint on this trail. It is full of long boardwalks built in the woods on the banks of the river. Shaded with lots of scenery. Restrooms, water at Riverpoint park. Lots of ups and downs. Combine with Riverwalk trail for 22mi roundtrip.

Chattanooga Riverwalk (Tennessee Riverpark)

Well Done

June, 2017 by ajw

We parked at Riverpoint park and rode the S.Chickamauga trail (see review there), then rode the Riverwalk east to the dam. Then turned around and rode the Riverwalk west to the Patten tennis club. The trail goes up a hill there, so we turned around and went back to Riverpoint parking. 12mi roundtrip on Riverwalk, 10mi roundtrip on S.Chick for a 22mi day. Trail is well maintained with lots of restrooms and water. It is shaded most of the way, and runs along the river with lots of good scenery. Tip: this is not a rail-trail, so there are some ups and downs, turns, and it can be a bit narrow and congested in parts.

Nice trail

October, 2016 by tinneyea

Family friendly trail. Things to see and do: ponds with ducks and fountains. streams. Three playgrounds throughout the trail. Lots of shade. Bridges. Two tunnels. I went often during the week and it wasn't crowded. The traffic getting to the parking lot was bad though. I went around 4-5pm when a lot of people were going home from work. Overall, great trail for the family or the individual.

Volkswagen Drive Sidepath

SIDEWALK

October, 2016 by tinneyea

Let's be honest, it's just a sidewalk. This "trail" shouldn't be on here. It's one step up from riding on the actual road. It's not family friendly and the cars that drive on the road next to the sidewalk go at a high rate of speed, which is a known issue in this area. When I saw a car going to fast in a curve and go up on the sidewalk, that was it for me. I prefer not having the fear of death while riding. No real views other than factories and the smell of mufflers. Yes, I really don't like this "trail" being on here.
