September, 2026. We parked in Gobles and headed West to the Lake Eleven area and back. Old trail surface from Gobles to Bloomingdale. Though old, and sometimes dirt and/or grass and not very wide, easy to ride on. Mostly shaded as it travels through woodlands/forests. Before Bloomingdale there is a nice one-mile paved section through town. West of Bloomingdale to South Haven the trail has been resurfaced with new crushed limestone. We found it to be loose and more difficult than the packed dirt on the old section. Interesting historical signs along the trail. Gobles has trail services nearby. Trail services in Bloomingdale as well. Parking at each of these locations. However the restroom along the trail in Bloomingdale was rated one of the top 10 worst restrooms ever by my husband. No vent or window, more flies than ever and most awful stench. We were ok with this trail since though not very scenic, though we enjoyed reading the interesting historical signs and the shade.
We drove down from South Bend. Although it is a fairly short trail, it was well worth the trip. A beautiful, smooth and shady ride. Several rest stops and ports-potties along the way. We parked at Gaff Park in Rome City. Ample parking, neat and clean restrooms along with a bike maintenance station.
We live near the trailhead at DeMoney/Grimes Funeral Home and bike the trail regularly. If you’re coming from out of town, you can park at Krogers. From this point the trail drops into Morsches’ Park, behind the YMCA, along the Blue River just south of town, and then all the way out to the Columbia City Schools. Part of the new expansion takes you through neighborhoods, but it’s still a dedicated bike trail and not simply a sidewalk with trail markers. Total length is approximately 15 miles if you don’t include a return trip. At no pointed are you required to hike/bike on a roadway.
Drove down from South Bend. Started at CR700 and rode to North Judson and back. Class 2 e-bikes. Nice, quiet trail. Maybe saw 10 people total. Decent shape for the most part. A few rough spots and low hanging vegetation. Plenty of shade. Didn’t venture into town this trip. Will definitely be back.
Ride Kokomo to Peru. Lots of shade areas. Relatively smooth.
It's a short but nice trail. Nothing really to see/do.
The layout is a bit confusing at first and it's a mostly urban setting here but otherwise not too bad.
After parking at Gene Stratton Porter, we headed into Kendallville, and then rode back to Rome City. Even though not listed on the app, there is a section of new trail completed, a nice parking parea and a repair station at Gaff Park in Rome City. We followed the trail through the park down past the boat ramp and up to the business district. It was a great ride with restaurants at both ends of the trail
The trail is very narrow all throughout, so if you encounter a another bike rider, there's not a whole lot of room of maneuver in, so be careful.
It's also a bit rough until you get south of E Van Buren st, where it does get nice and smooth.
We rode from Abshire Park in Goshen to Middlebury. The scenery was beautiful. We ate in Middlebury at Hilltop Restaurant.
