North County Trailway

Nice training ride but some issues

September, 2020 by ohsunjoo

Great trail with greens and manageable hills. But some dangerous crossings and noise highways. Recommend ear buds. I wouldn’t take my kids for whole trail. Just south is fine. Will definitely go during foliage season.

Sandy Hook Multi-Use Pathway

not recommended for bikers

September, 2020 by eddyzhd

There is nothing interesting to explore here IMO. Btw there is no shade so it’s extremely hot in summers.

New Springville Greenway

Good ride

September, 2020 by peterv328

This is a nice ride as it takes you thru some wooded areas then you drive along Richmond Ave for a good part. You can continue along a very narrow path on Arthur Kill Rd to get into Bloomfield park and continue your ride in there as well.

Loantaka Brook Reservation Trail

generally good

September, 2020 by eddyzhd

My review is more conservative. This bike trail is mostly in the woods where you don’t get sunburn. There is also a an asphalt /gravel path for your choice. It’s worth a normal weekend visit but not a special tour to it

Setauket-Port Jefferson Station Greenway Trail

Excellent greenway

September, 2020 by humorme201

Took the family and it was very clean and an excellent time. Windy and lots of hills and downhill runs. Recommended

Savin Rock Trail

Parking Limited due to COVID

September, 2020 by millie7

This was a lovely, but popular walk. The only issue is that all but one small car park has been closed to non-local residents due to COVID. So unless you have a parking permit, you’ll need to head to Palace Street where there are a small number of metered parking spaces.

Saddle River County Park Bike Path

Beautiful ride

August, 2020 by rohan_desai78

Enjoyed this ride with our 10 yr. old daughter and she was thrilled to bike on this trail.. competed the entire trail of 7.6 miles.

North County Trailway

perfect Sunday walk

August, 2020 by mrobbinsct

easy, beautiful, peaceful, friendly, shaded Great for walking and biking

Pequonnock River Trail

Better from Tait Road onwards

August, 2020 by jenna.rajpal

We started in Bridgeport in the park near the zoo, but I would recommend going from Tait Road onwards because it’s a proper trail from there onwards. From Bridgeport north to that point is nice but more road noise and you need to cut through some neighbourhoods to connect up w the other parts of the trail. We had a lovely day out though. Hilly in places but not too hard.

Manasquan Reservoir Trail

A bike trail with everything

August, 2020 by cheech1957

I’ve done this trail many times and enjoyed it. Greenery , water views , birds twists and turns Great trail

Saddle River County Park Bike Path

Great path but watch out

August, 2020 by mitchell_b

The pathways are well maintained and the path is clearly marked. The only issue I have had is some on bicycles. I’ve almost been hit a few times by groups of people on bicycles ignoring any rules of the road. They will ride side by side and if you are walking, you have to walk on the grass to avoid being hit.

West Essex Trail

Shaded woods

August, 2020 by mlayton05

Quiet, wooded. Great nature feel. Appreciable checkpoints of crosswalks, bridges, water views. Loved the shade in the cool morning. Have been a few times now. Trail is mostly gravel, rocky. Wore light hiking boots for the rocks personally. Well maintained with fallen trees cleared. Just under 3 miles end to end. Parked on the roadside by Verona high school, entrance is just past the tennis courts side. The trail has a dead end on the other side at another railroad track. You can stop at the road County Rte 612 and turn around as it does not go much further. There is parking along the side of that road if you would like to start from that end in Little Falls (address near entrance is house number 102). Google maps accurately shows the trail.
