Eastern Shore Trail

beautiful Trail!

October, 2023 by jackiehollander

A lot of people have given this trail a bad review, I didn't think it was all bad! It is a sidewalk, so there are a lot of crossings, but it's a wide path very good signage, and you go through beautiful neighborhoods, the alligator boardwalk, and some coast views. I crossed over 4000 miles on this trail so I've been on a lot of trails! I wouldn't do this trail with skinny tires because of all the crossings but we enjoyed it overall very much.

Chief Ladiga Trail

Great ride with some bumpy parts

October, 2023 by kippmich

We rode from the start of the trail to Germania Springs park (mm 23.2) and back. We stopped in the cute town of Piedmont for a snack at Elevated Grounds and then sat on the swing under the gazebo by the history center for a few minutes. The trail is beautiful through the forest, then goes through a rural area where there are lots of cotton fields. It’s a bit bumpy from tree roots that have pushed up the trail. Most spots have been ground down, but it’s still a butt burner going over those spots. Nice ride with not a lot of street crossings.

Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail

One of the best trails we have ever ridden

October, 2023 by p64vcs9bhj

This trail system is second to none. Very well maintained, plenty of entry points with parking, they even have a free bike rental program. Nature at it’s best, wildlife, beautiful lakes and just so much to see and so many places to stop and enjoy the moment. Besides a few side trails, which are not made for road bikes, the entire trail system is paved. There are several bridges, one of which is 1.1 miles long. Take your time because you will see alligators, water fowl, otters etc. It’s a marvelous trail system you don’t want to miss.

Chief Ladiga Trail

Piedmont to Georgia Line

September, 2023 by garybrogers

We started out our Saturday morning having our trikes tuned at Rocket City Trikes located just off the Chief Ladiga trail in Piedmont, Al. After the tune up rode over a couple blocks an at lunch at the “Elevated Grounds” coffee shop, excellent sandwiches!! Then we were on the trail headed toward Georgia, this about a 14 mile ride one way we meet other bikers an trikers, good conversation an fun! Return trip to Piedmont was great, it is a slight downhill grade most of the way! And of course we topped of the trip with a second stop at Elevated Grounds for Ice Cream!! Was a Great Day on the trail!!

Richard Martin Trail

great trails!

September, 2023 by cbd1961

Rougher on the Elkmont to Tn line but still nice. The other side was really good with slight elevation.

Civitan Park Trail

Concrete path for walking and bike riding that is 5 or 6 feet wide. We really enjoyed it. Met some friendly people and animals. The fallen soldier memorial was impressive.

No Reviews No Way

July, 2023 by michaelraydunaway

We ride this trail everyday & so does many others if they are not walking or jogging. The trail has many entry points where you can park. On the perimeter there are many places to eat & easy to get to the beach as well. Also access to Gulf State Park or the Sportsplex in Orange Beach not to mention there are bike lanes along the coast for miles even going into Florida.

Five Mile Creek Greenway

Local treasure

July, 2023 by swgross

A nice crushed rock trail with lots of shade. It is very pretty but parts of the trail between Fultondale and Gardendale are washed out exposing large gravels that are difficult to ride without a mountain bike. Overall I am excited to see the ongoing work to expand this trail and hope that it continues to travel farther north.

Five Mile Creek Greenway

Smooth easy ride east to west

June, 2023 by twogirlswithcurls

This trail is a hidden gem. The slope is minimal. Other riders, runners, and cars at the FEW road crossings are very courteous. We cannot wait for the full trail to be completed.

Five Mile Creek Greenway

Wonderful, quiet, shady trail, with additional two miles to enjoy

June, 2023 by brown1115lak

I rode this scenic trail from east to west and back on June 1, 2023. Nice and shady at this time of year, the trail is gravel, well groomed, graded, and quiet. The traffic noise as it passes beneath US 31 and Interstate 65 is minimal and quickly fades as one proceeds down the trail. At the western end at Powder Mill Road, I met a kind gentleman who informed me that an additional two mile extension has been completed and will officially open Friday, June 2, 2023, bringing the total to about 7.5 miles. Look for the extension near the gate of the Cornerstone Ranch, which is private property. Please respect all landowners and their property.

The greater Birmingham community has a priceless treasure in this trail. To those responsible for its acquisition, construction, and maintenance, thank you very much!

Chief Ladiga Trail

Flat trail

April, 2023 by gary.heissler_tl

Started off at the trail head at Anniston and rode north past Piedmont to the 9.5 mile marker. Trail was pretty flat with some bumps along the way. The scenery was good.

Five Mile Creek Greenway

scenic trail

April, 2023 by hughel

We started the trail yesterday from the Fulton dale trailhead and parking lot. It was very hard to find because there’s no signage on the highway. It’s in a city little league baseball park. The trail is crushed limestone which requires fat tires. Very scenic and shaded old growth hardwoods. We really enjoyed it and plan to do it again.
