Middle Township Bike Path

Not pleasant

September, 2020 by montclairrich

We started at the Cape May Zoo (north end of the path). The path consists of an asphalt strip, straight as an arrow in a 60' wide clearing filled with dead vegetation and between 2 rows of high voltage utility poles. The path was closed 2 miles in and we were forced to detour along busy Route 9. After we found our way back to the path, it was closed again a mile farther South. It was the same story - closed for construction with no Detour signs. We gave up at that point. Maybe someday the path will be re-opened and it will have nice plantings. But for now - go elsewhere.

Monroe Township Bike Path

Pleasant ride!

September, 2020 by valbic59

This path was a nice surprise. Wide, flat, well paved path in a wooded area. All shade. If you’re looking for an adventure or challenge, this path is not for you. But it’s a great way to spend an hour or two getting a moderate workout in a beautiful natural setting.

West Deptford Scenic Trail

This is great for beginner hikers or for those who just want to take a nice walk. Most of the walk is in the shade, which is especially nice on a hot day.

Ride this in combination with the boardwalk and path to second avenue. Makes the total ride almost 4 miles each way

Getting your JAM on!

September, 2020 by awardigo

I loved this ride! Rolling down the boardwalk sounded like one of those wood roller coasters. The views are beautiful. Traveling south to New Castle, you’ll be rewarded with Battery Park’s beach views on the river. Travel North into Wilmington proper, you’ll be rewarded w/ a vibrant riverside with plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy a nosh or beverage. I’m not sure why this map doesn’t include the 2mi north that are part of the Riverwalk. All in all, a great trail.

Forbidden Drive cruise

September, 2020 by sandymo

Took the Lincoln Drive Trail to Forbidden Drive and road to the end and return. It’s a great place to take a leisurely cruise. It’s a mix of cyclists, runners, and walkers, along with families. It’s crushed gravel, larger gravel, some bigger stones, etc. I saw some road bikes but you’re much better with at least a hybrid, gravel/cyclocross bike. A MTB is not necessary for the main road, but there are a lot of trails off the main road. Enjoy the ride but be careful of others on the trail.

Woodbine Railroad Trail

enjoyable ride

September, 2020 by vandebe

The family and I did this trail and it was quite we stopped short of the traffic circle and turned around. We parked at the culdesac at the end of Dehirsch ave and rode from there. My 8yo has a new BMX bike and completed our round trip with no problem. Be careful of traffic around the airport and the Ford and Chevy dealerships

Georgetown-Lewes Trail

Road from Tall Pines to Lewes and back, plan on making it longer by continuing on the Breakwater trail. Nice ride and mostly cars stopped and let you cross.

Delaware River Trail

Delaware rarity in Canal

September, 2020 by connietubertini

I’m not impressed with this trail very disappointing no bike signage regarding which way to go on the trail. Really needs to be maintained trees in the middle of the trail, trash and then some incidents the trail was so narrow the trees were overgrown in pathway. No one was there, and now I understand why this would be a trail I would not recommend to anyone.

Pennypack Trail

At the Top of Our List!

September, 2020 by rncarini

There are two very pleasant 5-mile walks (2.5 miles out, then back) on this trail, between Rockledge and Byeberry Road. Park at the midway point at the intersection of Terwood and Welsh Roads in Huntingdon Valley. Nice lot. If your GPS needs an address, use 798 Welsh Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006 as your destination for the parking lot.

For Walk 1, do the 5-mile walk from the above parking lot towards Rockledge (in the southerly direction). Wide path, lots of shade, surefooted, many great views of Pennypack Creek, along with a few railroad artifacts. Can do a side detour through the gorgeous Lorimer Park, as well.

For Walk 2, park in the same lot mentioned above, and walk northerly, through Bryn Athyn, ending at the current trail end point of Byeberry Road. Another very nice walk, with lots of creek views, a few bridges, an interesting placard that describes "Death Gulch". Cool little story about the "milk train" at the Bryn Athyn station along the path.

There is also parking at Byeberry Road (near Masons Mill Park) and at Lorimer Park, just outside of Rockledge.

Both stretches of this trail are bikable with road tires, on white and black well-packed cinders, with virtually no potholes. Super condition!

You will not be disappointed.

Uwchlan Trail

Nice trail off the Struble

August, 2020 by sandymo

I’ve run this trail a number of times and walked it quite a few as well. While it’s basically uphill from the Struble towards Eagleview, it’s not too bad and should be doable for most people. I checked it out awhile ago for a friend who rides an adult trike and I wouldn’t recommend for that as several of the bridges have bad transitions as well as a few very tight corners. Still, it’s a pretty quiet trail close in to enjoy even in the warm weather.
