GREAT TRAIL

June, 2025 by zap26

Visited Erie on a whim to do this trail and it did not disappoint. I biked from my hotel by the Pier millennium tower to the park. For the most part it was easy because there was a bike trail but it was also a little confusing when I got to the intersection which I should have turned (not clearly indicating to turn toward the isle) so I went 4 miles out of my way. Once I got on the island there was a separate bike path throughout the park. It was flat and beautiful ride. Stopped at one of the beaches to get my feet wet since it was 95 degrees out and stopped and did the tour of the lighthouse. This was definitely worth visiting Erie to do. Found my way back to the hotel much easier (without going out of my way). Only time I was actually on the road with cars was near Waldameer Park and for the most part felt safe since the speed limit was 25 MPH. If you are visiting Erie, definitely worth the ride. I think it would be really cool to watch the sunset over lake Erie from the island.

I love this trail! It’s local and once you get 3 miles in there’s almost no traffic!

Corry Junction Greenway Trail

Poor maintenance in NY

June, 2025 by thejenni.girl

The PA portion is a decent greenway. The instant you cross into NY you see evidence of vandalism, 4-wheelers nearly run you over (they don’t slow down), multiple rotting deer carcasses dumped on the trail, piles of garbage, horrendous ruts & puddles from ATVs and my personal favorite: 2 young Amish having sex in the middle of the path. it was not the experience I was expecting at all! Do better New York!

Oil Creek State Park Trail

Always a nice ride-June 2025

June, 2025 by vicki1960

Great trail no matter the season. June 2025 a warm and sunny day. This trail offered 85% shade! Just a few short areas that isn't fully shaded. Trail follows Oil Creek, asphalt paved trail surface in very good condition except for a few bumps. We parked in Petroleum Centre and biked North to Titusville and back. Had lunch in Titusville took some side streets to a restaurant. There's several eateries in Titusville as well as trail services...dollar store, convenience store. We frequent this one in the summer due to the shade!

Bayfront Connector Trail

Typical Urban Trail

June, 2025 by dharbula

The trail is very poorly marked! The area around Behrend campus and also Lampe Campground near the channel are very nice. The rest is simply urban riding. But it’s better than nothing if you live in the Erie area.

Pymatuning State Park Spillway Trail

Spring Ride

May, 2025 by vicki1960

May 2025-Spring Ride. Great ride as always and enjoy visiting the Spillway. Trail is approx 3.5 miles in length, flat and paved. Mid point is the Spillway. Plenty of parking and restrooms.

End of Winter Ride

March, 2025 by vicki1960

Rare 70 degree day mid-March provided a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the trail. Trail is free of any ice/snow and wet leaves. Paved surface for 6 miles from Meadville to Krider Road. Beans trailhead has a new layer of gravel so it won't be as much of a mud hole in the Spring!

Bailey Trailhead Icy Hike

February, 2025 by vicki1960

February 2025. Parked at the Bailey Road trailhead and walked. The trail was icy as was the parking lot. Had to walk along side of the trail. Still nice to enjoy the trail in the Winter!

A few miles of the trail are plowed of snow

January, 2025 by vicki1960

The first few miles of the trail, as you enter the park, have been plowed and salted. It's down to the asphalt for miles but a few icy snowy spots here and there. The bay side of the lake is frozen over with ice fisherman out there. On the other side, facing Canada, there are ice dunes and the ice is frozen for as far as you can see from the shoreline. A beautiful state park to visit all 4-seasons.

Winter Activities

January, 2025 by vicki1960

Trail is great for Winter useage! Snowshoeing/walking. We also saw XC ski tracks. We were on mile markers 9.5 thru 11. Trail surface under the 8" of snow is grass/dirt. Nice and flat. goes through wooded areas and follows the old canal.

December Walk in the Snow

December, 2024 by vicki1960

Parked at mile 11.5 at the Conneaut Lake end of the trail, located behind the winery. A good snowfall had fallen a few days before our walk on The Ernst Nature Trail. Surface is dirt. A new shelter located at mile 11.25 of the trail. Trail follows old canal and runs through the game lands. A beautiful trail for a wintery walk in the snow!
