I was disappointed in the trail. If you are going to hike this plan to come way after a rain. It was extremely muddy and therefore getting quite eroded. The biggest disappointment was the human impact as far as first trash and then once I made it to a beautiful deciduous forest with gorgeous beech trees, if these beautiful trees were within a few feet of the trail they were defaced. Come on people!
Five minutes to the greenway from home, plenty of parking. It’s flat and great for the family. Has been crowded the few times we’ve been but everyone is very friendly. Overall a quick beautiful little ride.
I started from Armstrong Park, and walked just up to Lexington and back today. The path was paved and well marked, with a Sandy creek running alongside. It was wide enough to allow bicyclists to pass easily. People are generally polite, and maintain distance.
It is bumpy and not exactly good for a road bike. If you ride on any trails, then it is acceptable. I enjoy it and it is very peaceful and beautiful. If the tree roots were eliminated, then it would take away from the nature. I highly recommend it
Cross several streets and connects to other bike trails. Good easy ride. Great parking at Armstrong park.
The trial is located beside the movie theater in Birkdale/ Huntersville. Nice paved trail. You can continue on the sidewalks to the park and extend your ride. Enjoyable 1.5 mile ride each way!
I live in the neighborhood so I go all the time. I especially love it when there are few people and most of what I hear are the birds. Most if it is shaded but there is also a walkway that leads to an open area where you can feel the warm sun as well. The only downside is that there are a number of people who don’t bother to clean up after there dog.
Too many people. I like my walks more solitary, especially during a pandemic.
Wife and I took our 9 and 7 yr old on this trail and they loved it. It’s flat and paved with nice scenery. It’s relatively short and would be nice for running as it wasn’t crowded at all.
First time riding this trail. Nicely kept. Friendly people on trail.
I ride this weekly one of my favorite. Very well traveled clean lots of breweries to stop and get a cold one. I Take it to the end near Uptown then get on the side walk on Morehead take it to Mint St around BOA Stadium then hit Irwin Creek Trail makes for a nice 10 mile ride.
