Minnesota Valley State Trail

Sandy/muddy

April, 2021 by marlene_pearce@yahoo.com

Rode this out of Belle Plaine going north 8 miles out and back. Several downed trees which were easy to ride over, but the trail is not great on a mountain bike. Too sandy, and at this time of year, muddy. It’s to be expected for a river bottoms type trail I would assume. Needed a work out nearby and was glad this is close to where I was staying, but won’t race back to do it again.

Gorgeous ride

This is a beautiful paved road for bicycling. The view of the Mississippi River is so peaceful.

Minnesota Valley State Trail

Only covered about a mile

April, 2021 by chanwhit18

We only walked a very small part of this trail. Parked at the end of Huber Park "under" the bridge and walked to Memorial Park and back. We wanted just a short walk to check out the area and while it was nice and dry on the trail, it was through a swampy area and when the paved walk ended the footing was really uneven. A lot of bugs already at just the beginning of April.

Waconia Shared Use Path

Pleasant neighborhood walk

April, 2021 by chanwhit18

We had about 45 minutes to kill while waiting on someone and didn’t want to just sit in the car so we drove to the Interlaken neighborhood parking and set out for about 15 minutes away from the car and 15 back. A couple of small hills were a nice addition to make our short walk a bit more challenging. We encountered kids on snowmobiles, a mom pushing a stroller, a senior couple walking a dog, a true neighborhood stroll.

Rum River Regional Trail

short but sweet

March, 2021 by billt806

This trail follows the edge of the rum river from just North of Anoka HS to the mouth of the Mississippi River. It is curved with lots of up and down. Note the three Cottenwoods that marked a bend one river around half way. They are reminders of the the old paper mill days.

Great Northern Trail

my go to trail.

March, 2021 by dgp13123_tl

This is my daily ride trail. Only two miles from where I live. Very well maintained. I’ve seen as many as 12 deer during an early morning ride. Love the fact it has now been extended to Zimmerman.

Stower Seven Lakes State Trail

Great in winter!

January, 2021 by maevemcguire

It’s great views of lakes and marshland in Wisconsin. In winter, you can see ice fishers and wildlife in the trees. I recommend using walking poles in the winter for the snow. Highly recommend!

Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail

Grew up on the trail

December, 2020 by oberm053

Well crafted limestone trail with scenic views, parks, shops, restaurants, and small lakes, all along the way. Very beautiful in fall, or really any time of year. This trail system links the suburban communities it surrounds with the greater metropolitan area and goes from Victoria into the Twin Cities.

Chaska Ravine Trail

Minnesota Valley State Trail

New Expanded Routes

December, 2020 by timbee205_tl

You can get on this trail either at Huber Park or Vet's Memorial Park, both in Shakopee. The eastern end is now paved & goes across the MN river into West Bloomington where there are mountain bike trails. There is new pavement in front of Valley Fair & Murphy's Landing. The trail then goes along the river over to Chaska which can sometimes be flooded out.

Also, from Huber Park you can get on a new segment of trail & go across a much wider span of MN river and go up Flying Cloud towards Eden Prairie. Also, there is a connection to the LRT with a new river bridge and much new road construction in that area. Shakopee has many good paved trails in town to connect to if you want to stretch out your ride.

Beyond Chaska you can now go to Carver on a short paved trail. Going to Jordan or Belle Plaine is on poorly maintained dirt trails--maybe good for mountain or fat tire bike?
