Vermillion River Regional Greenway

A good day

July, 2024 by 8xshdh9bmw

The trail is smooth, with a few challenging inclines. We stopped at the bridge, downtown for lunch at the Confluence hotel. They have a couple yard games out front, and seating for taking in the view. Part of the trail, near the Vermillion entrance is being paved. We’ll go back to complete the loop. .

Indian Mounds Trail

Overgrown, no real views

This looked like a once wonderful park and trail. It is not maintained properly - with too much overgrown trees and greenery to see any sights over the bluff.

Cannon Valley Trail

beautiful trail

July, 2024 by c-armen

We rode from Welch into cannon falls. Took about an hour and stopped at the winery for some flatbread and wine then rode back. Great day. We were able to ride side by side most of the way and the trail was smooth and mostly flat and mostly shaded.

Midtown Greenway (MN)

Nice Trail connecting one side of the city to the other. Some construction detours but nothing terrible. Lots of bike traffic and walkers/runners. Car traffic was very polite and stopped for people crossing.

Cannon Valley Trail

Rode this trail from Red Wing to Cannon Falls last year and loved it. Tried the same today and only made it 3 miles. Tree on path and flooded in areas.

Douglas State Trail

Nice ride

June, 2024 by djmmsherman

We're from the Twin Cities and parked in Pine Island to ride south toward Rochester. Trailhead in Pine Island is nice with restrooms, playground, wooded with asphalt path winding through. Early in the trail, cross the Zumbro River. Nice tree canopy for most of the ride. Missed taking the underpass (trail wasn't marked) and rode about half a mile before we turned around. Back on the trail through lovely rural Minnesota. Did about 13 miles and turned around for a total ride of about 26 miles. Trail in great shape overall and nice ride.

Cannon Valley Trail

Well Worth The Trip/Price!

May, 2024 by gristow

This user fee supported trail could offer a clinic for trail maintenance given its pristine condition. Excellent paved surface with the exception of the first 4 miles west of Red Wing (given the exposure to the sun). Trail was well-marked with numerous rest stops and some informative signage and trail-side attractions. Several new bridges added to overall enjoyment of the trail. Mostly shaded for 10 miles east of Cannon Falls (beautiful falls running thru the city!). Maintenance was superb and passed several maintenance vehicles (removing a large tree limb blown down from the previous night’s storm and a blower clearing the trail.) One of the prettiest well-maintained trails we have been on and we have been on many!

Cedar Lake LRT Regional Trail

trail revamped

Road along the trail today and it was fabulous through Hopkins and ST Louis Park to the start of MSP. Light rail work being completed and the trail is in excellent condition. It was fun to see the light rail stations along the way.

Cannon Valley Trail

wish I lived closer

May, 2024 by linda.gruetzmacher5

I finally made it to the Cannon Valley Trail, I live 3 hours away. It was beautiful with the river , tree canopy and hills. interesting and multiple rest stops. Some parts aren’t the smoothest but overall it’s in decent shape. I was happy to pay $7 to support its upkeep. What a deal for a good outdoor experience. I rode from the Cannon Falls end to Red Wing and back. Enjoyed the Red Wing waterfront parks/ trail. Found the bike on-ramp for the bridge over the Mississippi. Found an excellent CannonBelles Ice Cream / sandwich shop at the end.

Chaska Ravine Trail

It has its moments

April, 2024 by rmtrsws6g4

This could be a really nice trail. I was trying to connect from the Minnesota Valley Trail to the Lake Minnetonka Trail and thought this would be a nicer ride than taking Jonathan Carver Parkway. Unfortunately, signage is non-existent along this trail and it splits at multiple places so staying on the trail requires a lot of stopping and checking your map. On the positive side, it has a lot of potential and the gravel sections were fun.
