Agassiz Recreational Trail

Twin Valley to Fertile

May, 2025 by dascher09

The most scenic parts of the trail are from Twin Valley North to Fertile.
Decent tree shade with some scenic bridges and river views.
Keeps away from the Hwy more than the rest of the trail

Agassiz Recreational Trail

Fertile to Twin Valley

February, 2025 by mattsperling

I Biked the trail from Fertile to Twin Valley June 14th 2024. It is a very nice peaceful ride but be ready for your legs to burn. The surface was loose and sandy in a majority of spots. If the path had a harder pack surface like crushed limestone or like surface this would make for a great trail system that could extend as far north as Crookston.

Trail in poor condition!

August, 2021 by jrtaray

This trail is in poor condition with lots of ruts and bumps on the trail. The bridges need some repair - with noticeable holes / missing pieces in the wood. Also, where the trail meets the bridges are uneven or filled with sand - in some places the sand is washed out - pretty dangerous. Also, parts of the trail are being used by golf carts and other types of vehicles. If you are on this trail, be careful and carry spare tire tubes.

Agassiz Recreational Trail

Its nice

October, 2018 by williamlaura

We started in Ulen and walked 5 miles & back. Its along the highway so it’s pretty loud. Its pretty though. Probably wont go to that part again though, hoping the other parts arent right up against the highway.

Scenic walk

The walk from Twin Valley to the next paved road is scenic with river crossing and lots of woodland. Worth the trek.

Fun Multi-Use Trail

April, 2015 by jenkinsqh

I've biked/run much of this trail. The trail head beginning in Ulen north to Twin Valley runs right along highway 32. Some sections are rutted grass cover only, the rest hard packed dirt/gravel paths. Gravel can be small class 5, to larger diameter rock. Low pressure in your tires helps. Not scenic. At the north end of Twin Valley, the trail veers off the highway with a few scenic bridge crossings, and some smaller grades to climb. Some sandy areas that can be hard to run/bike on closer to Fertile. All-in-all, this section is very pretty, and offers plenty of shade, and protection from wind.

Bottineau Trail

Beautiful flowers on Bottineau

June, 2014 by mabowerman

A nice paved trail. Shaded with a bench or two along the way. Saw bunches of yellow lady's slipper, columbine and it looks like there would have have been a ton of bloodroot had I been there earlier (I was there in early June). Lots of wood frogs in the shallow dich, and tons of dragonflies. Lots of poison ivy and mosquiitos though.
