Devil's River State Trail

Great scenery

November, 2021 by jac_marley

Rode the trail 10.29.21. Beautiful Fall scenery along the trail. I especially liked that this trail did not run adjacent to a busy highway like so many RtT do. Also enjoyed the variety of the landscapes and the fact that a large portion of the trail is higher than the adjacent terrain allowing for good views and vistas. Passing through a couple of small towns on the route was also enjoyable.
I deducted 1 star because there was a logging operation along about half of the trail. The heavy equipment being used tore up the surface pretty badly. I will assume that once the logging operation is complete, the surface will be restored (?).

Picked up trail on Hwy K in Cedar Grove and took it to Kohler-Andre Park. Trails are nicely maintained, restrooms along the way. At Oostburg you are on country road the remainder of the way. Little to no traffic. Also, not very scenic. Kohler-Andre is great.

Terrific Trail

September, 2021 by lisaknits2

Biked from Sturgeon Bay to the town of Algoma a little over 34 miles round trip. Absolutely beautiful day. The trail is mostly crushed limestone and mostly flat. Great for beginners. E-bikes would be fine on this trail. The town of Algoma is quaint and friendly and the views of the water and beach is lovely. Visit the Country Cupboard for some unique gifts and the super friendly owner, Katie. Saw turkeys, deer, and wild blueberry bushes, apple trees, and peach trees!! There’s a nice park for a stop in Forrestville with bathrooms. This was a great ride! Will do this trail Again!

Surface is Challenging for Walkers

September, 2021 by sharon.kay.baxter

We started walking this trail in Gillett at the entrance in the industrial park off of W Park St. The trail is wide, flat and straight. It is well maintained. I noticed a few beer cans littered along the trail. But, mostly this is a VERY clean trail. We enjoyed the canopy covered parts of the trails through the woods, the open fields and the occasional creek or lake views. We went as far as Spice Lake and circled back. The surface of the trail was challenging and varied with different types of rock along the way. Most areas were loose rocks varying is size from tiny pebbles to 1-2" round. You don't get good traction. We only encountered a few ATVs and they were all very respectful...slowing down and allowing plenty of room to pass. Time of day: weekday morning.

Needs Better Directional Signage

September, 2021 by sharon.kay.baxter

We started walking the trail on the corner of S. Main St and W. Oshkosh St near Shawano's downtown. There's ample parking and a trailhead there. We headed west on a 4 mile loop that was indicated on the outdoor map. The trail was flat and easy to navigate, mostly paved with granite. It wasn't a scenic route and wasn't well marked. There were times when the gravel trail ended and you had to walk on the road. We had to refer to the TrailLink map and Google maps often to stay on course.

Beautiful trail! Easy ride! We ended up doing the whole trail round trip which was just under 30 miles with our kids. Stopped in Maribel on the way back at Gunslinger’s for some much needed fuel(burgers) and more water!

Duck Creek Trail (WI)

A half of a trail. About 5-6 miles out of town is where the finished very rideable part is. A 11 -12 mile round trip.

The trail is fine gravel… we have electric bikes after 3 miles we turned back. Very disappointed. Worse ride ever… hope we didn’t ruin our motors. Pave the trail or make it dirt but NOT gravel.
