Ocean Parkway Trail

Path has been resurfaced since the earlier reviews

Path is very well maintained, except for the connector to Prospect Park is a bit worn (you can use the adjacent street). A great stress free route to Coney Island.

Barnegat Branch Trail

an OK trail

July, 2025 by johnclowes

I rode this trail starting in toms River with my ultimate destination being southern Long Beach Island. This is really more two trails as the first section ends and you need to ride south on route nine for a stretch and pick up the trailhead again. There are many many intersections The total stretch of trail including the route nine portion is about 15 miles and deposits you in Stratford, New Jersey. Easy ride to Long Beach Island although getting on the boulevard is not really bicycle friendly.

Sandy Hook Multi-Use Pathway

My Fave!!!

I have wanted to come to Sandy Hook for several years, and I am thrilled that I finally did. It’s a lovely ride that includes shore front and leafy glades. Definitely my new favorite ride!

Delaware River Heritage Rte. 130 Bypass Trail

Nice ride from Crystal lake park to the Delaware River. The on-road segment has a sidewalk which we used for safety, although not a lot of traffic. Restrooms at Crystal lake park. . Water was very rusty !!

Nice , pleasant ride though suburban areas, places to stop if one wishes, level with interesting things to see and experience. Side trip into preserves and beautiful Swedenborg church. Missed the connector to the lower part ( thought trail short no wonder) I shell return!

Hudson River Greenway

get NYC updates before you ride

May, 2025 by vbergerg_tl

The section on the Upper West Side starting from 125th St going south is still closed for construction but will hopefully open soon albeit late. Also the section from 181st Street running to Dyckman St is also closed with zero announcements re what’s going on; could be a serious problem with sinkholes and the retaining wall. The good news is that we finally have a full size bike lane across the Henry Hudson Bridge. The bad news is that you still have to portage your bike up a 2 story railroad bridge into the Dyckman Park section of Inwood Hill Park. And in Riverdale it is on street from the bridge to Van Cortlandt park. Park

Ellen Farrant Memorial Bikeway

Taking credit after all these years

May, 2025 by maryjofrohlich

Artie Pescov and I were the initiators of this bike path when I was 17 years old ( I am 70 yo now) and he was 16 yo. I lived on Pine street backing Cedar Creek Park ( old timers would know our property because we had a chicken farm and the hens would cross Merrick Rd. The diner is now there where my grandparents house stood). It was his idea and I had a license. So we travelled around getting signatures to have this bikeway built. We then visited congressman Mr. Murphy ( I think that was his name) of Seaford and he loved the idea. Well, it went through and Artie and I never heard another word about it. Other people (adults not teens like us) took credit for it. However, I am glad that this bikeway still exists! I have long left Long Island but still good memories.

D&L Trail

Rough Ride not like previous outings

March, 2025 by haldemanjoseph

We rode from the Cementon trailhead out 10 miles to Slatington and back on March 19, 2025 and were disappointed in the conditions of the trail. Encountered large stones throughout the ride unlike the crushed stone base we experienced in previous rides in the spring of 24 and fall of 22. It was if someone maintaining the trail deposited large ballast rocks all along the trail surface really impacting the surface normally smooth ride. Also had to navigate many miles of bumpy tire tracks.

Wasn't sure how it was going to be, but it ended up being very cool ¿ and a lot of neat things found along the way!! Probably will walk it again in the spring time!

Trail Completion

November, 2024 by mdneveling

I love the D&L and ride it often. I’m trying to finish the entire trail and went to complete the northern most section from White Haven to Mountain Top. Unfortunately, about a mile in the amount of downed trees becomes too much (must have been from a storm). I fought through it and walked my bike but it was arduous. Around 4 miles north there was an area with multiple downed trees over the path. It was impassable so I turned around and fought my way back. I’m sad that I’ll have to wait until it’s cleared (hopefully in the spring).
