Lake Wobegon Trail

If the five miles I covered are an indication, it's an above average trail

May, 2017 by gjswitek

Rode from mile 90 to 85 and back on a cross country car trip. A very pleasant break and a trail I would like to come back to and ride more.

Dakota Rail Regional Trail

Awesome Dakota Rail Trail

September, 2016 by vsnyc

I live in NYC and recently spent time visiting family in Lester Prairie. I rode the Dakota rail trail from end to end several times while I was home and cannot say enough wonderful things about it. Gorgeous views, had the trail to myself for the most part, every amenity you would want -- maps, mileage and historical info at the kiosks, porta-potties, water, even a bike repair station in Mound!!! The segment from Waconia to Lester Prairie is especially beautiful with endless views of farm country, gently rolling hills and corn and soybean fields, and beautiful wetlands and lakes right alongside the trail.

The most blissful biking experience I've had. I will be back for more!!!

Luce Line Trail

Love this trail

September, 2016 by casey briskin

This is one of my favorite trails in the city. Park at the parking lot at Stubbs Bay and bike 10 miles to Watertown. Mario's is a great cafe stop before turning back. The trail is not crowded and offers beautiful views of farms, small lakes and woodlands. Some day I want to ride west of Watertown and see what Winston is like.

Central Lakes State Trail

Ashby to Dalton

August, 2016 by ttc

Nice ride from Ashby to Dalton. Open views of rolling prairie, wetlands and farm fields. Head (right) to downtown Dalton and take the paved county road east for 2 miles, then south on a less traveled paved county road with rolling hills past several lakes and wetlands, a beautiful country church on top of a hill with an outstanding view of the countryside and to the trail for the return to Ashby. This is about a 17 mile loop and makes the ride more interesting than out and back on the trail.

Dakota Rail Regional Trail

Nice trail with lots of shade

August, 2016 by chriszerby1

Went as far as Waconia. Nice, fairly level, and a smooth trail surface. You can watch the boat traffic on the bays of the lake. Lots of signage to help. Ice cream shop (Lost Lake Creamery) in Mound was good. Apparently the construction work is done near Wayzata and that end is open now.

Dakota Rail Regional Trail

Construction In Wayzata

July, 2016 by zuujam

Once you get out of Wayzata this is a great trail.

I road 15 miles west starting in Wayzata.

When I rode back a construction crew was working on removing section of the trail. Had to take the detour Shore Line Drive

There were many markings on the trail near Wayzata for future construction.

Next ride I am going to start in Mound to avoid the construction.

Beaver Island Trail

Beaver Island Trail St.Cloud S.C.S.U. MN

June, 2016 by jdunn691

easy all paved path with minimal incline or decline. Rides right along the Mississippi River. Starts at S.C.S.U. and follows the river to the Country Club. Nice scenery with river view!

Soo Line Recreational Trail

nice ride

June, 2016 by jodi.morrison.5

It's a nice smooth ride with great food at Jordie's along the way. Worth a visit.

Luce Line Trail

Paved from Winsted to Hutchinson

June, 2016 by rdbloemke

Last October, the section from Winsted to Hutchinson was paved. It's a great route. One hiccup to get around is small unfinished portion just west of town. The ride to Hutchinson is great. Stop by the Crow River Winery on your way in to town. Then use the miles of trails and bike routes throughout the city.

Central Lakes State Trail

Alexandria East and West of Big Ole

March, 2016 by welikestabike

On August 21, 2015 my wife, 7 year old daughters and I traveled a couple miles east and a few miles west of Big Ole in Alexandria. The kids did fine as the trail is level and in good shape. On this short trip, the travel west was easier.
Going east involved more side street crossings. The tunnel under the main highway limits the high traffic danger going east and is kind of cool to go through. If we had traveled a little further and I expect we would have been out of town and had the joys of rural riding.
Going west involved crossing a couple busier roads, but was picturesque once we left town. As we rode several large culverts brought us right over the lakes. We did some Geocaching along the way and stopped to just look around.
The scenery was beautiful. In our view, the trail is great. Our round trip distance was about 14 miles (2 east and 5 west X 2).
The trail head in Alexandria had toilets, water and a place to sit down. Parking was good. Also, basically across the street is the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum (lots of vintage boats) and the Runestone Museum. We enjoyed both.
We look forward to more Central Lakes trail this summer.

Glacial Lakes State Trail

Between Willmar and Spicer

March, 2016 by welikestabike

On March 12, 2016 my wife, our 8 year old daughters and I rode bike from Willmar to Spicer. Smooth 6 mile ride. We crossed a few gravel roads, but traffic was not a concern. The Highway 23 underpass eliminates the worry of crossing a busy highway. We stopped at Subway, a few feet off the trail, in Spicer. After lunch we turned around and traveled back to Willmar. Our daughters handled the ride very well. They did last year at 7 also. They have good bikes from Rick's Cycling in Willmar, not discount store, bikes.
Overall great little trip, get out and ride, they grow up fast.
