Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway

Trail is Closed!

June, 2021 by s.welsh

Half way along the bike trail is closed. They are still working on the bike trail underpass for Route 34. Work has been going on for two years now. It is so disappointing - the only way round it is to take a 3 mile detour on major highways which is risky for a cyclist because the cars and trucks are whizzing past at 50 mph. Just cannot understand why the bike trail had to be closed for so long and still is.

Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway

Partially Closed!!!!!

June, 2021 by beachwritingsnj

I wish there had been a notice at the entrance in Manasquan that part of the trail was closed and it detoured you on to Atlantic Avenue for about 1.5 miles & under the 34 bridge in the construction. The trail is nice otherwise. The bridges going over the parkway are a little freaky but cool.

Paulinskill Valley Trail

Highly Recommended Trail

May, 2021 by twarren9

I rode this trail near the end of May and thoroughly enjoyed the ride on my mountain bike. The trail cuts through a very small airport and passes lots of farmland. I started at Blairstown Footbridge Park and headed west to the end of the trail and back. (About 15 miles total). Heard two roosters, accidentally flushed a juvenile Bald Eagle and saw four Eastern Bluebirds too. No black bears but I did see a black squirrel! A beautiful ride!

Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail

Nice Trail except in downtown Trenton

May, 2021 by normanbowers

The trail in downtown Trenton is poorly maintained and not well marked. I got lost in an area that you don't want to spend a lot of time. There is not much to see downtown so it would be my recommendation to avoid this area. The rest of the trail is a nice gravel ride with good scenery and few road crossings.

Calhoun Street Bridge

Walking Trail Only

May, 2021 by normanbowers

The D & L Trail passes very close (100 ft.) to the bridge on the Pennsylvania side. A sign on the bridge requires bikes to be walked, and the bridge attendant enforces this rule. On the New Jersey side the trail ends at the east end of the bridge and there is no safe way to traverse the three blocks to the trail along the canal. I guess it is a nice stop while biking the D & L Trail.

Traction Line Recreation Trail

Simple straight flat

May, 2021 by staceys.feeney

Simple straight flat (most of the time) -- a pretty easy ride for anyone. Some sites to see, but photos are pretty representative of what you will see most of the time. There are a couple of opportunities to exit the path to head out on main roads and do a little looking around. This trail is next to residential, commercial, and a small university.

Columbia Trail

Nice, ez ride before concert @ nearby Stanhope Roadhouse

May, 2021 by mkgrayseal

Wanted to get in a quick ride before nearby concert that wouldn't overly tax me and found this nearby rail-trail on my RT app. A pleasant ride on mostly flat, even gravel surface (need at least hybrid tires) thru local wooded country side. Light bike and foot traffic on cool, cloudy Friday late afternoon. Dry conditions although it had rained on ad off most of the week. Simple out and back trail. Only drawback was the no-see-ums and gnats that come out before sunset especially in the spring. Fortunately, I had on glasses and a helmet. Fun ride overall.

Union Transportation Trail

Union Transportation Trail

April, 2021 by jgross302743

Solid trail, goes through farmland and the backs of some businesses. Not much shade, but there are enough trees to make you feel far from society. The crushed gravel is easy to ride, the trail is mostly flat, and the mile markers are very convenient.
