Middle Township Bike Path

Ferry to CM Zoo

July, 2020 by gayang16

In August 2019, I took the ferry to Lewes, DE. On the way back, I biked from the ferry to the CM Zoo. The bike path was well-maintained. The Cold Spring path had a lot of shade, which was wonderful on a 80F day. But once I hit the Middle Township bike path, I couldn’t find any shade at all. It was hot! Otherwise, it was a great and safe ride. I would do it again.

Henry Hudson Trail

a leisurely summer ride

July, 2020 by smajler

We rode this trail a couple days ago on road bikes, starting in Highlands. Beautiful views along the path and a variety of scenery. We went on a hot sunny day and were happy about how balanced the trail was in terms of sun exposure and shade. You can park your car at the start of the trail at Henry Hudson Trail Activity Center (on google maps search for “Bayshore Family Success Center”, it’s the same building/parking lot). The first couple of miles or so are bumpy due to the tree roots raising asphalt along the route. The ref of the ride was smooth but we rode only as far as Keyport. so are

Excellent Trail Except No Social Distancing

June, 2020 by danielledavan1

The trail itself is a beautiful 3.5 mile paved road traveling through Metuchen, Edison and Woodbridge. Great for walkers, joggers and bicyclists. However, as another person mentioned, people do not stay to the right of the road. People walking in a group will continue walking at you without adhering to the rules of social distancing and moving over to their side. It's a shame because it is a lovely walk however people need to be more respectful with regards to social distancing.

Route 18 Bike Path

Fun little trail

June, 2020 by jonathanwtea

Fun little trail that connects Edgar Felix Trail to Wall Township. I noticed it said “Inline skating” as an appropriate activity for this trail. I would not recommend this. Portions of the trail are extremely steep and the trail itself has many bumps from tree roots growing beneath. Probably time to repave this trail soon.

Freedom Trail Bikeway

Freedom Trail - Short and Semi-Sweet

June, 2020 by aweighart

The good thing about this trail is that it's not crowded. But there's a reason it's not crowded: It just isn't anything that special about it. It's very short, and even in that short stretch, you've got to cross 2 roads with cars coming pretty fast. The unpaved stretch is a nice jaunt through the woods, but just 1 mile, and then you have to turn around. The paved part is about 2 miles, but not very scenic.

Manasquan Reservoir Trail

scenic and mostly flat

June, 2020 by conatron13

Great trail, though its also a very popular jogging trail so you’ll have to be careful. Definitely bring mountain biking tires if you can. The trail is mostly dirt but there are several long patches of loose rock that could prove hazardous to slick tires.

Ben Franklin Bridge

Amazing view

June, 2020 by ramon.jessica

Can’t beat this view, especially for sunrise or sunset. Nice little breeze up there as well. Race Street Pier only half a mile away from the base of the Philly side entrance/exit. Also not too far from the Rocky Steps either if you want to make a run for it through Center City.

Paulinskill Valley Trail

still a little rough

June, 2020 by meghan.mcquaide

The trail is moderately level. Some ups and downs but relatively easy. Many places are only wide enough for one bike. Some super muddy spots. Overall the trail could use some grooming and TLC.

Berkshire Valley Management Area Trail

Hidden in a quiet neighborhood

June, 2020 by klewisfour

Enjoyed exploring the trail with a friend on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in June. First time here, it was a challenge to find it. Once we did we enjoyed the path and found a few others along our journey. Worth checking out. No address but directions in the parking instructions.

Sandy Hook Multi-Use Pathway

Amazing

June, 2020 by d.rodriguez35

First time and not the last time !!

Middlesex Greenway

Too Busy

June, 2020 by agentkelly67

Pedestrian traffic does not stay to the right. Too many toddlers and strollers and again no one staying to right. We barely did a speed of 6mph. We went at 6pm on Friday night. The bridge was very steep. Had to walk the bike up. I guess if you are a seasoned rider you could do it. I find the section from Edison to Woodbridge much quieter. Next time will do this section only and do a few loops.
