Such a nice walk with great views and walked 7.5 miles !! Great place, with great scenery!
Wasn't sure how it was going to be, but it ended up being very cool ¿ and a lot of neat things found along the way!! Probably will walk it again in the spring time!
This was a great place to jog. I just did the loop, (not the tail part of it) and that was 2.5 miles. Benches along the way which I used to stretch before and after. The trails were pretty with the colorful fall trees. It was quiet until you get to the street part, but it’s a short distance.
This trail continues 8 miles from Alley Pond Park all the way to Flushing Meadows Park, home of the 2024 World Series champion NY Mets! You only have to cross 3 streets for the entire ride. You continue past Cunningham park to peck fields then to Kissena Park, Kissena Corridor Park, then alongside the Queens botanical garden. The East River Greenway is under construction. There is no access between 76th and 71st streets. The newly built portion between 71st and 52nd streets is quite nice. The section between 52nd and 37th still needs to be built. Further downtown, the greenway is closed south of 23rd until about the seaport. Hopefully it’ll be ready for next spring.
Truly loved this trail we went on a Sunday September, we had our electric bikes it was so much fun. Coming back for sure!
Does anyone know if the trail is open between Jim Thorpe train station & Weissport is open? We are heading there this weekend of 9/13-15/2024. It’s been closed for most of the spring/summer season 2024 for construction. Just curious if we shout just head to the Weissport parking lot. Although the trail between JT & Weissport is a fun ride.
It should be used mostly for walking back and forth. Really good for the kids or folk just learning to ride their bicycle. I used it to practice clipping in and out of my pedals. It's also really neat and clean. Also a lil park as well.
Confusing “trail” - poorly maintained,poorly marked. Felt a bit sketchy so to be clear I did not do the whole trail.
The long-missing half-mile section from Rockledge Borough Park to SEPTA’s Fox Chase station is finally open. Not sure where trail parking will be located at the Fox Case (Rhawn Street) end but SEPTA has always had free parking at their regional rail stations on weekends.
