Left from East Peoria getting through town was slow as crosswalks were not very speedy but it was a good ride some incline and well kept.

Lincoln Park Trail

Bridge out at Taylorville end

May, 2019 by p0werman

I checked out this trail today as it was the right distance for todays goal. Drove to Taylorville first and took about 20 min finding the Trail head. No bike trail signs around it. I got on and 1 mile into the ride a chain and a sign “ BRIDGE OUT”. Could not pass. I put the bike back on my car and drove to the PANA end of this 14 mi trail and a nice big parking lot ( none at the Taylorville end) and got a great ride in. So instead of 14 mi at this time its only 13. U have to stop at he bridge blocked . It was concrete with intermittent trees and long stretches of open field. Start at Pana cant start at Taylorville.

My Constitution Trail Review

March, 2019 by cwbrocks10

The Constitution Trail is a great bike trail. It is a entire 40+ miles long with concrete on all parts. The trial is covered with trees in most areas, creating a nice shaded ride. It makes the rides/walks/runs very relaxing, and it is well known throughout the community.

Towanda Route 66 Parkway

Welcome to the Mother Road

October, 2018 by wilhelmggw

It’s great to see how trails are being developed along Route 66 in McLean County! The center section of this trail is a masterpiece all by itself! A superb introduction to the place Route 66 has had in American history.

Sangamon Valley Trail

Need SPEED LIMIT/SAFETY signs posted all along the trail

October, 2018 by nashjoeking2

I LOVE THE TRAIL -- but have some SAFETY CONCERNS.

I jog every other day on the trail and there are LOTS of bikes
and some of them are going 15 - 25 mph! Some speed this
fast even when there is much traffic going BOTH directions,
which is dangerous! Some of these bikes are going as fast
as a slow moving car! Fast enough to really HURT someone
BADLY if a collision occurs due to negligence.

There are baby buggies and slow solo walkers and couples
walking hand-in-hand and runners and about everything you'd
imagine or expect . . . in other words, a VERY MIXED POPULATION
with people moving at a VARIETY of speeds.

Some of the bikers seem to be trying to explore how FAST they
can go (disregarding safety concerns) not to mention an utter lack
of courtesy and regard for others, etc.

There ought to be a SPEED LIMIT posted or SOMETHING!
Someone may get badly injured!

Constitution Trail

One of my Favorites

October, 2018 by stephanripsom

I have ridden this trail 4 times so far, making the 35mile on way drive.
Very nice, tree lined and scenic ride along the creek. Tunnels pass under the busy streets. Can be a little crowded on weekends, so plan on going on weekdays, if possible. Almost totally paved from Bloomington to just south of Hudson and east to Normal. Although not part of the trail, Tipton Park in Normal connects to the trail and is just as nice. Can easily do 25miles by bike. Lots of benches, water fountains and rest rooms.

Lost Bridge Trail

beautiful ride

August, 2018 by mdbyrd42614

This is a nice straight path. Mostly covered by trees so it’s nice and shady! Very beautiful! Wish it were longer!

Lexington's Route 66 Trail

A Great Way to see the Mother Road

July, 2018 by wilhelmggw

Lexington has done a great job holding onto its Route 66 charm! It’s small town Midwest Americana at its best! The day we were there to ride the trail, we had a great lunch at Kelly’s on 66, where we talked history with the owner and admired all the highway memorabilia from yesteryear. We were going to drive through downtown on Main Street, but found it blocked off and filled with a Homecoming Carnival. I didn’t know small towns even had these anymore! We’ll be going back again – for trail and town. Looks like there’s lots of Lexington events related to the Mother Road.

Rock Island Trail (IL)

Mixed Bag but Fun

July, 2018 by negangardo

I've skated the riverfront section and also from Harvard Ave to Alta. The pavements varies in quality from very nice to very rough and cracked. The stretch from Midstate College to Harvard Ave is probably the best for those that want good pavement. Also beware of the tunnel at roughly mile 11.75, as it is situated after a blind turn at the base of a hill. Easier to navigate it coming from the north, but very sketchy coming from the south. It's a great albeit narrow path once in the long tunnel though. I'd probably recommend the East Peoria trail over this one but it is still a good skate or ride.

Sangamon Valley Trail

Fantastic Trail

July, 2018 by linear527

We rode this trail on 7/6/18. Started at Centennial Park and rode north. This is a great trail to ride on. Outstanding bridges, very well maintained! We will be back to ride this one again. If we had more time we would have done 2 loops on this one.

Lincoln Prairie Trail

Ok, but don't bring a road bike

July, 2018 by linear527

My wife and I rode the trail on 7/5/2018. We started from Pana and rode north to Tayorville. The trails is in pretty rough shape in areas and in need of some maintenance. We should have brought our hybrids instead of our road bikes. It would have made for a much nicer ride.
