Chief Ladiga Trail

bikechopper

May, 2018 by bikechopper

The third trail of our trip from Fl to Ms and Al. We had rode this trail before it was paved and didn't remember how long ago it was, the host at the Eubanks Center in Piedmont told us it has been paved for over 20 years. Piedmont is the heart of this trail. The round trip to Georgia's Silver Comet was the best part. There are views of the mountains to the sides of the trail. The state border has a nice rest area and great signage. As we went through Jacksonville there was trucks and equipment on the trail, they were cleaning up damage from the April tornado. On both sides of the trail you could see the destroyed buildings. The Jacksonville Train Depot was a high point, we used it for our last day start and end point. Then just down the street we found Struts where we celebrated completing our trails with great wings and beer. We would return to this trail.

Silver Comet Trail

Epic Trip with Kids (12 and 14)

April, 2018 by jbulot

Was planning on this being an overnight bike trip, as the kids have never done more than a 10 mile ride. We packed overnight gear, etc. Unfortunately, the forecast for the 2nd day turned sour and the kids decided to push through and finish the ride in one day! they did great - largely on the original rail/paved trail. Towards Rockmart and Cedar Town, it diverted through some downtown areas and some of the uphills were rough..but by and a large a great trail! Both kids left with a great deal more confidence than when they started!

Simms Mountain Trail

Great for kids

April, 2018 by kristyn.martz

We didn't complete the trail but it was perfect for the kids (10 and 7). It was dirt and gravel with some hills but not too challenging.

Chief Ladiga Trail

A medical necessity

March, 2018 by bwoods0

This trail has saved my life. literally, the chief means to controlling diabetes. The beauty of the land, the great places you pass through, the folks you meet, the welcome centers and facilities along the way are outstanding, with the one in Piedmont giving out free snacks to bikers and hikers. I can't say enough about the entire 95 miles of trails, from Anniston, AL to the Atlanta, GA area. Be conscious of the bumps caused by tree roots, they can throw you at speed above 15 MPH (trail designated maximum speed). Don't forget to sound off when passing others on the trail, it is just being a good neighbor.

Noonday Creek Trail

a trail with great possibilities: Noonday

November, 2017 by geoblackshaw

Wife and I have been riding the Noonday trail for several years and enjoy all the expansions being made.
We live very close to Noonday park and look forward to the day the trail comes to the park and it becomes a trail head for the Noonday bike trail as it is already a established park with restrooms etc lots of parking too.
We are hopeful that a walking track might also be installed at Noonday park to really bring it all together for everyone.
The park is huge.
Ride the noonday trail and enjoy it along with us.

Big Creek Greenway

Greenway

November, 2017 by ian.buda

I have lived near the Big Creek/Greenway trail for over 10 yrs. I am there everyday either walking my dogs or bike riding.

It is quiet, peaceful and has wild life.
In addition to road biking there. There are off-road trails as well as hiking trails too.
Love it.

Chattanooga Riverwalk (Tennessee Riverpark)

Loved This Trail

November, 2017 by wwpppp

We drove up from Jacksonville, AL, where we ride the Chief Ladiga Bike Trail quite often. Riverwalk Trail was a wonderful surprise. The only negative was we felt that the trail could have been marked better, but, we will definitely be back. The views are amazing and the trail is VERY well maintained.

Big Creek Greenway

No maps on trail and too few signs

September, 2017 by dishesdelicious

I really had a terrible time getting any sort of bearings on this paved trail. It's mostly cyclers on it (I run or walk) and without having maps and signs it's challenging to find your way around, to restrooms and back to your parking location. There are bridges and a very few inclines but none overly strenuous. More shade than sun which is nice in the neverending Georgia summers.

Town to Creek Trail

trail walkers

September, 2017 by geoblackshaw

Very nice for walking but pavement seems narrow if bikers are present as they move pretty quickly, many times not warning walkers especially with small children of their presence.
Love dogs too but.. leashes over 5 ft should be discouraged as they totally block the path causing concerns for trail enthusiasts .
(Path currently ends at 92 not yet joining the Noonday trail south and then west to Kennesaw Mountain) That will be a really great ride when it is complete.

Noonday Creek Trail

I Don't Get It!

September, 2017 by c92vette

Some parts of this trail are real nice but parts run along busy Barrett Pky and Cobb Pky (Hwy 41). Why did they not actually follow Noonday Creek in this area? It would have been safer and nicer. Otherwise this is a nice trail for at least half of it. Going north from Town Center is the nicest part of the trail. Watch all the intersections between Town Center and Kennesaw Mtn as drivers don't pay attention to pedestrians or cyclists. Once you turn up the hill at Old 41 Hwy it is a good climb and if you want you can continue to the top of Kennesaw Mtn. If you follow Barrett Pky instead of going up Old 41 the trail continues for several miles.

Noonday Creek Trail

Poorly marked

August, 2017 by rsoph

The trail is poorly marked in several places. Barrett Parkway and old 41 being one. Several dangerous intersections and strip mall entrances make this more of an urban adventure than I would like on the Kennesaw side. The Northern section towards Woodstock should be better once (if) completed.
