Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail

D & L rail/canal trail

December, 2025 by toddengland

I just rode a portion of the trail from West Trenton to 2 miles north of Stockton. The path was a packed gravel path wide enough to drive a car down. The grade is very minimal the section I rode on. There are great views of the Delaware river the entire way. I would suggest browsing around the town of Lambertville. There are many quaint shops and restaurants to visit.

This is a great trail to walk or bike. There are no steep hills but, plenty of scenery and wild life to see. Don’t forget to look at the Pennsylvania rail road station at the trail head.

Union Transportation Trail

UTT on a windy day

November, 2025 by johnsmithfromjersey

Started at the southern terminus & rode all the way up and back. It’s a nice trail in pretty decent shape, pretty flat in most places (but not all). Chilly & Windy. If you like wind try riding your bike across these farm fields in the middle of November.

I rode this trail on 10/26. It is fine crushed stone with a paved section that heads toward New Egypt. Good ride with some minor grade changes. The ride took a little over 2 hours to complete. Bathrooms and parking areas were nicely spaced on the trail.

Atlantic County Bikeway

OK ride for something different

October, 2025 by pjcobra

Actually, it's pretty good in that it is paved, level and well-maintained. Not super scenery but pleasant enough. Worth riding if you're looking for an easy fifteen miles on a different trail.

Pleasantville to Somers Point Bike Path

Good, level, paved and maintained

October, 2025 by pjcobra

Good for an easy paved level ride. I agree that "Pleasantville" is a misnomer. We cut it short when it got sketchy up there. Still, it's worth the ride.

Sandy Hook Multi-Use Pathway

very nice

October, 2025 by pjcobra

Well-maintained level scenic paved trail. Lots to see--ocean, beach, bay, various watercraft, deer, fox, birds, fauna, all sorts of military relics (missiles, cannon) and ruins (Fort Hancock), views of Manhattan skyline, and the oldest lighthouse in the USA. The direct main trail is only about 7 miles from the south parking lot but you can easily add a few riding around Fort Hancock. We rode in late October 2025. It probably gets very hot in the summer. I GUESS there's usually a fee to drive into the area (National Park) but there was no fee when we were there, perhaps because off season, perhaps because of government shut down.

Henry Hudson Trail

Good Beginner Trail

September, 2025 by mpd45

Living in Middlesex county are and getting into biking it’s good long path and safe. Has lot bumps as other reviews and lots stops with street crossings. Started at Gerard St and made it down just past Keansburg area roughly 14 miles round trip. Hard to keep fast momentum or consistent pace with stops but as a beginner it’s great place to ride safely

Henry Hudson Trail

Pleasant leisurely ride

September, 2025 by valbic59

We rode the south segment (Freehold to Big Brook Park), 12 miles RT. It was lovely for a leisurely ride. But with many street crossings and twists in the trail, as well as bumps from roots, it’s not great if you are looking to get any consistent speed. Also, we went in Labor Day, so lots of foot traffic and families riding in groups. Nevertheless, we look forward to trying the other segments.
