Nickel Plate Trail

worst trail ever

July, 2021 by djessie413

Eaten alive by deer flies. Road crossings are EXTREMELY dangerous

Nickel Plate Trail

A very nice trail

July, 2021 by tim.patz

This is another example of a 4.5 rating.
This is a very nice paved, flat, level path.
I parked near the bridge that crosses over route 35 and headed north.
The path runs through a rather rural/country area with a good bit of trees/shade.
So as always, if in the area and want to get a couple miles in, give this a run.
It looks like a good trail for an enjoyable and possible long bike ride as well.
Maybe if I'm ever back in the area....

Miami & Erie Canal Towpath

Spencerville to delphos

May, 2021 by millecs

The path is very nice! We found a nice parking lot/rest area on Zion church road. The path is kept up nicely and shaded most of the way with a tree line. One side is the canal/tree line and the other side is fenced nicely. The way the trees face it would block morning sun. We walked around 7pm. It took about an hour to walk for 4.5-5mile walk into Delphos. Be aware it does abruptly end and turn into grass by a trailer park, but it is easy to get to the road from there.

Nickel Plate- Indiana farms on display

May, 2021 by bearcat80

I parked at the Nickel Plate marked trail head in Kokomo first rode south to downtown and then north to just south of Peru. The route to downtown Kokomo was well marked and an easy ride. Heading back north you will see many farms and small towns to pass through. My favorite was Bunker Hill. There are some stop signs. No rolling stops! The cross traffic are mostly trucks and travel at high speeds. A wonderful day in the country. Mike

Ride info

October, 2020 by dblunk33

Great trail to ride , the hog farm near Williamsburg smells terrible and at least 3 times big Rottweiler dogs have chased us and nearly wrecked us at the hog farm entrance. Very scary and dangerous. We ride 5 days a week and don’t see them everyday but potentially a terrible situation. Other than that a great ride and well maintained.
