After parking at Gene Stratton Porter, we headed into Kendallville, and then rode back to Rome City. Even though not listed on the app, there is a section of new trail completed, a nice parking parea and a repair station at Gaff Park in Rome City. We followed the trail through the park down past the boat ramp and up to the business district. It was a great ride with restaurants at both ends of the trail
The pavement is pretty bumpy, rough, and narrow the entire time, so your bum might not thank you if you ride your bike on this one.
Nice and scenic, as it takes you through local parks, nature, and a hospital.
We rode from Abshire Park in Goshen to Middlebury. The scenery was beautiful. We ate in Middlebury at Hilltop Restaurant.
Great little trail! would like to know when the section across cr 900 N are going to be open?
I drove 4 hours to bike this trail (15 miles out and back) the last day of May and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it - the curves, the great condition of the trail, the birdsong, the bridges, the view of the river, the other cyclists as well as walkers. The switchback hill was tough. The ride on the road wasn’t bad at all. I recommend this trail for anyone looking for a trail of this length.
Rode today from Shipshiwanna to Goshen and I highly recommend this trail. Completely asphalt until the very end in Goshen. Beautiful country side with local farms, farm smells and a creamy adjacent of the trail - but it was closed. Enjoyed it very much.
Bike ran me over even though I went in the grass on the right. We have hiked numerous of paths from the Rocky Mountains to Alaska. Runners and bikes have always passed on the left and given some type of warning. The biker rang his bell and then plowed into the back of me. He hit so hard that he had to put his 10 speed bike together.
Love this trail! Very beautiful, just wished it was longer
My wife and I use this scenic trail to divert off of the Pumpkinvine to shop and enjoy a great breakfast at Essenhaus.
Path effectively connects Elkhart with the Pumpkinvine trail in Goshen, safely. But this is not a particularly beautiful or fun ride.
We rode in late March, and path was debris covered the whole way, and the ride is always within a few feet of a fast moving road.
It is safe and flat and is a great way to get from Elkart to Goshen or the reverse, but not worth making a special effort to travel to for a recreational ride. You're better off driving to Goshen and riding Pumpkinvine from there.
The first 15ish miles are paved and then almost EVERYTHING after that is stone and mud and dirt and you are in the middle of nowhere. Now, I could have done more research but I was not prepared to have to cut through random properties and factories to continue the trail. We had to cross a live railroad just to stay on track. The majority of the view is just cornfield. There are also not many places to stop for food or bathrooms or anything. You cut through wauseon, which has some places, but other than that there isn’t a lot. Anyways- I’m traumatized!
