Rode the entire trail from Ayer, MA to Nashua, NH then back to Ayer on 10/09/24. Paved the entire length and extremely well maintained with frost heaves painted white, although, one should be careful when sections of the trail are leaf strewn, as it was yesterday. Suitable for walkers, joggers, rollerblading and cycling. This is the nicest trail I’ve ridden since moving to Massachusetts 2 years ago

Granite Town Rail-Trail

Rustic and difficult in parts for bikes other than mountain bikes

We did this trail with e-bikes with 2.1" tires. This all-dirt trail is very rustic and narrow in parts. From the north, after .5 miles you will start to feel the presence of tree roots which at times are very dense - so dense that they are difficult to ride over at any speed. From about .8 to 1.2 miles the trail goes up and down a hill which is all rocks and anything other than a mountain bike will need to be walked.

My wife and I are both injured(fortunately not serious) after both of us thrown off our bikes simultaneously on a small poorly surfaced wooden bridge just north of Keene NH. The wooden boards were uneven and some rotted causing our bikes to wedge in a step-off causing us both to fall off our bikes. The trail had several road crossings just outside of the town of Keene which are very dangerous. There are tiny stop sign markings on the trail and no large or blinking light warnings on the crossing roads which have poor visibility in both directions due to curving of the road. I would not recommend this trail for transient travelers trying a new RT on vacation. This is for locals only who know the trail well in my opinion.

Part of this trail is closed, my wife and I got about 2 miles or so in and there was a detour sign for the trail and we could not find where it picked up again. Road on the streets for a bit and then headed back to the truck, got about 5 miles in on the ride so not a total loss

The scenery is very nice which is why I gave it more than one star. The surface is sand. Sometimes pretty well packed. Other times quite loose. It was doable with our hybrid bikes, but a lot of work and not much fun. Add to this a steady stream of dirt bikes and 4x4s kicking up dust and spewing fumes! Just not our kind of cycling.

Fort Hill Recreational Rail Trail

We did this trail today. It is quite bumpy but the scenery more than makes up for that. It goes through beautiful forests with frequent views of the Connecticut River. Don’t pass it up if you are in the area.

Ashburnham Rail Trail

Very Enjoyable, Much natural beauty

I'm in love with this trail. Much of the trail path is dirt, but there is a new area with fine gravel. I find this such a peaceful trail and consider it to be in good maintenance. Thanks to everyone that maintains the trails.

Assabet River Rail Trail

not what I expected

This is a decent trail but there are a few things to note: No parking lot on Marlboro end but I did find parking on a side street. The trail has many street crossings, especially when you are in Hudson. Some of the crossings are busy intersections. The trail ends in Hudson but you can bike along rte 62 for a few miles, then down a side street to pick it up again in stow. That portion of the trail will take you to action. The guide says this is 10 miles but I’m not sure if the Marlboro to Hudson section is 10 miles or if it is 10 miles with the stow to acton portion. Marlboro to Hudson didn’t seem like 10 miles. I wouldn’t go out of my way to do this tri
