Kensington Metropark Trail

absolutely Gorgeous

June, 2025 by bears64

Walking, biking, fishing, boating, wildlife, skiing, sledding, waterpark, picnic tables everywhere. Miles and miles, plenty of bathrooms everywhere. Swans, blue Herons, Sandhills Cranes, turtles….. I could go on forever. I love it here, drive 45 min. To an hour all the time to come. It’s my haven, it’s my peace. Water everywhere, very safe, park staff, park police. Come and enjoy!!

Dr. Richard D. Ruppert Rotary Trail

Alright

It's got some nice scenery, but with pretty bad pavement and an iffy round trip distance, I wouldn't bother unless you're local.

Towpath Trail

Beautiful

This trail has a good surface of crushed stone and hard packed dirt. The trail followed the Maumee River and the canal. Sometimes either one or both were hard to see because of the foliage on the trees and underbrush. The cement bridge near Waterville and the lock and dam at the other end near Grand Rapids were both interesting. Informational signs were present at both places. I was thankful for the bike fix-it station near the Farnsworth Metropark since I had gotten a flat tire on the trail. It got me where the pressure needed to be beyond what I did with my hand tire pump. It was a good day for a nice ride along the tree lined path with great views.

Iron Horse River Trail

Ok

May, 2025 by clonetrooper5373

Split into two sections, one paved and the other wooded with packed dirt, it's a decent trail but nothing special.

The first part is completely paved with not a single bump or crack that I saw, and the second is the wooded part that's a bit rougher though with a better view of the St. Joseph's River.

Lakes Community Trail

Very Rough

May, 2025 by clonetrooper5373

This is a pretty bad trail, with pavement being cracked and rutted all throughout, with some cracks being bad enough to launch me out of my seat.

There's nothing even to see except some playgrounds, as the trail is largely urban.

LAFF Pathway

Ok

It's a nice round trip but there's nothing to see except some schools.

Russell Street to Patterson Street Trail

Nice, if short

May, 2025 by clonetrooper5373

It's nice and smooth pavement, but it's so short (even round trip) that's it's only kinda worth it if you walk it.

Riverbend Preserve Rail-Trail

Nice, if short

A nice, quick, slightly hilly jaunt through the woods. Wouldn't recommend cycling through here, only walking.

Sycamore Trail

Iffy

April, 2025 by clonetrooper5373

This trail is one of those half-urban, half-nature trails. It's a bit difficult to stay on the urban parts, as trail markings are a bit rare, with the trail really hitting its stride in the nature segments.

MSU to Lake Lansing Trail

Pretty Good

April, 2025 by clonetrooper5373

A mix of urban & nature.

The nature segments are excellent, beautiful and lush but the urban parts can be difficult to stay, as markers are few.

Towpath Trail

quite the tour

April, 2025 by alwysasoldier

Pretty scenery next to a lot of bodies of water and the river. There was a couple spots where it was iffy on where you were supposed to go and one that was caution taped off, but it was enjoyable. Choose how far you want to take it because I went the whole way and the only way to get back was to ride. Lol

Michigan Avenue Connector

Nothing Here

Nothing to see or do here except a playground and crop fields
