Interurban Trail (Kent County)

Almost like two different trails

July, 2020 by quilterbon

This trail is in two sections. The two sections are connected by riding on well-marked Buchanan Ave to Crown St to Walton Ave and a short section of 50th St.

From just north of 44th St to just south of 36th St it has been redone and is nice and smooth and maintained. The section from Kelloggsville Park just south of 50th St southward is really bumpy and not well maintained. It is also very hard to cross 54th St at certain times of the day. I wish the south section would get resurfaced as it is a great almost connector to the M6 trail. The East West trail takes off east from the Kelloggsville Park parking area.

North Bank Trail

Where does it go?

July, 2020 by stevej371

Very nice new trail from 144th St. all the way to Nunica.
At the trailhead in Nunica, there is a sign pointing south for the Spoonville Trail. There is no trail, shoulder, sidewalk or markings for this. Where does it join the Spoonville??

Fred Meijer Berry Junction Trail

Road Bike Worthy

July, 2020 by lorelcarroll

No need for your mountain bike on this paved, smooth trail. Very few roots or cracks makes for excellent road bike conditions. Little shade, most of the trail is in full sun.

Lakeshore Connector Path

Tunnel Park to Kirk Park and back - beaches were lovely!

July, 2020 by trails88_tl

Started at Tunnel Park and rode approx 11 miles north to Kirk Park. Enjoyed a packed lunch and a little time on the beach. Then turned around and came back.

Note that the trail is a more akin to a sidewalk along a residential street. We rode mountain bikes on the path, but every person on a road bike opted for the road. The trail was pretty hilly, especially between Port Sheldon and Coswell street. The bridge over Coswell street does not have a dedicated/separate bike path so we walked our bikes on the shoulder. It was a little unnerving so on return trip, routed through a residential neighborhood to avoid the bridge.

Both parks had restrooms, vending machines, bike racks, and beach access and made for very nice starting and stopping points.

William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail State Park

Fun and easy trail

July, 2020 by travylcouple

The Hart- Montague Bike Trail is one of the first Rail to Trails in Michigan. This 22 mile trail takes you through the scenic country side with produce and dairy farms. We are loving the shade provided by the trees, passing cows and seeing the cherry tree orchards. . A nice midway stop would be the Country Dairy Farm in New Era which has working Dairy farm tours, restaurant, takeout, local specialities and homemade ice cream. . If camping near the trail is your style- you have John Gurney Park Campground in Hart Michigan (we stayed here) and Trailway Campground (City Campground) in Montague on each end of the trail. There are also more upscale Rv camping options in nearby Silver Lake but that area is not real close to the bike trail. . This is a great trail to ride for a short stopover or for a single night stay. We found the Trailhead hard to find so if you are in Hart, MI there is easy to find Trailhead access next to Hansen’s Grocery store. . Check out The Silver Lake Sand Dunes area if you want more fun things to do in this area.

Plaster Creek Trail

July, 2020 by clarkmaur

Cool and shady in the eastern half.

Fred Meijer Flat River Trail

Easy ride loop

June, 2020 by tim36r

Starting from the Tower Park Trail head this path is a very easy 7 mile loop. M-91 was the only road crossing that was a challenge with higher speed heavy traffic. All other road crossing were light travel neighborhood streets.
The trail follows the river for the first half of the loop and you will cross M-57 and M-91 for the second time on trail under the road bridge.
The second half of the trail follow the roadway around the Greenville schools and a tunnel allows passage back under M-57.
A mile or so later you descend down a long hill to the beach at Baldwin Lake. When you reach the beach turn left and follow the lake front road. A left turn at Makoka lake road (just before crossing the small concrete bridge) will lead you back to the starting point, a loop of about 7.5 miles. Baldwin lake road circles the entire lake adding a couple of very enjoyable miles.
Overall the trail was great, in the shade most of the first half. I love that you can circle back to the start point almost all the way on trail.

Musketawa Trail

musketawa trail

June, 2020 by hawksfan628

nice, 12 foot wide fully paved path which goes through soybean and corn fields. almost all of it in the full sun. not too many riders. your only option to buy cold drinks is at a tiny convenience store in Conklin. your only option for food is at the Ravenna bar which has good food. Plenty of parking at the various parking lots such as Muskegon, Ravenna, and Marne. If you break down or have an accident there are so few riders that you might be out of luck. I imagine that this trail would be very beautiful on a late summer or early fall day when the leaves are turning.

Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park

Pretty and bumpy ride

June, 2020 by gatorcritter

Rode 20 miles roundtrip north from Big Rapids. Much of the trail is very rough and bumpy. I rode this section two years ago and it has clearly gotten worse. It is apparent that snowmobiles are causing damage as the worst of the pavement is found in open areas that get more sun. It is a very pretty section of trail with views of the river and a lot of deer in the fields. I hope DNR decides to invest in this trail's maintenance before it becomes unrideable for road bikes.

One of the best trails in West Michigan

June, 2020 by ikerb3

Wow! Recently updated and paved. Such a great scenic route north. Walked 8 miles and so much wildlife and amazing scenery. Park at Creekside Park and walk a few minutes to the trail head.

William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail State Park

Best Trail, some incline

June, 2020 by barbershopgirl87

My favorite trail, with some challenging inclines, but are rewarded with the cruise back from Hart, going South. Lots of woods, orchards, creeks, and farmland. Even in the heat of summer there is plenty of shade. Plenty of picnic table stops and very smooth blacktop! Well maintained ¿¿
