Lovely area to walk your dog, or go to see pretty overlooks, wildlife and just submerse yourself in peaceful settings. Great place for photography as well. There’s one straight trail and many trails that loop around and off that main trail. It’s well maintained and groomed.
The first 15ish miles are paved and then almost EVERYTHING after that is stone and mud and dirt and you are in the middle of nowhere. Now, I could have done more research but I was not prepared to have to cut through random properties and factories to continue the trail. We had to cross a live railroad just to stay on track. The majority of the view is just cornfield. There are also not many places to stop for food or bathrooms or anything. You cut through wauseon, which has some places, but other than that there isn’t a lot. Anyways- I’m traumatized!
You don't send a lot of time in a nature setting with this trail, with the first three or so mile south of Hillsdale being alongside a busy road and pretty rough pavement to boot, and with the last three odd miles being dirt, you might want to skip this trial completely. Falling Waters Trail is short distance driving away, so try that one instead.
What a fabulous trail! Loved seeing all the rural Amish farms along the way. We were even able to eat lunch at an Amish Cafe along the trail!
Beautiful!!! You even ride by the animals! One of the best so far!
Would love for them to keep going with this trail! Love it! Please put street signs where we stop! That would be great
I went on two walks while visiting my mom in Topeka, this trail is beautiful and exactly what I needed. The first walk started in Shipshewanna (spelling?), my second walk I start at the parking lot located off of CR43. I look forward to more walks on future visits.
This a good workout experience if you are walking instead of biking.
Very enjoyable ride from Whitmore Lake to Pinckney. Some of the nicest scenery in the area. Can’t wait to go again.
My husband and I have ridden this Trail several times and, in our opinion, it is top rated! We drive an hour to get there and it's well worth it. Also great places to eat, wonderful atmosphere, and very kind people.
