Polly Ann Trail

Dryden to Lakeville

July, 2020 by jbiggs13579

20 Miles on Polly Ann trail on Trek FX3 hybrid ....too bad Lapeer Cty cant maintain a trail like Oakland Cty....riding in Oakland Cty was like riding on the C&O canal trail....SMOOTH. 4 miles from Dryden to Bordman Rd was like riding on a washboard.....but good ride all the same. May try to get south of Oxford next time

Michigan Air Line Trail

Smooth as glass, good connector trail too!

July, 2020 by bjaflan

This trail is newly completed so the blacktop surface is pristine for wheels! It passes through developed areas and wetlands. There's no shade between Wixom Rd and Haggerty Rd, so go when it's cooler outside. The trail has an entrance to Gunnar Mettala park in Wixom and there are bathrooms there.

The trail crosses some roads and, where appropriate, has crossing signals. There's a bridge over M-5, but as of July 2020, Google Maps doesn't know about it, so it will reroute you on busy streets to get across M-5. Ignore the reroute; the trail is clear.

As the description states, the trail is a great connector between the Huron Valley Trail and the West Bloomfield Trail. Many people have eagerly awaited for years for that!

As of July 2020, there is an installation of the Detroit Institute of Art's "Inside Out", with 4 reproductions of prints found in the DIA displayed right on the path (they are spread out; you'll need wheels to see them all). I believe this will last during the summer months but not sure.

Update for 2020

July, 2020 by bjaflan

I see no one has reviewed in 2020, so here goes.

As others said, the roughly 4 mile section between the Oakland-Lapeer county line and Dryden is rough. I have a hybrid bike and I did not enjoy this part, although it would be good for hiking or horseback. I did not go farther north than Dryden.

The section in Oakland county has a good surface. From the Lapeer-Oakland Co. line heading south, it is crushed limestone in some areas, and paved in others. If you're reading this in July 2020, there is a tree across the path just north of Leonard that you cannot get around or under, you must carefully lift your bike over it. It's probably 3' or 3.5' high at its lowest point. If you're heading north and planning to turn around to go back south at the county line, you won't miss much if you turn around at the downed tree. Not sure how often they clear the trail.

I live in Hamburg, right off this trail. We've watched it develop over the last 20 years and it is such a gem! So many people still don't even know this is here. It gets maintained very consistently. (Even in wintet) We feel so lucky to be so close!

ITC Corridor Trail (Novi)

nice bike trail

We had pleasant biking experience here. It is good for mild exercise and you can observe good nature and houses around you.

Milford Trail

I started at Milford Rd heading towards Milford. The trail is more closed than not, with heavy equipment in use at several locations. I turned back where the trail crosses GM Road, so I don't know about the north part of the trail.

Matthaei Botanical Gardens Trail

Quick Ride or Run.

This is one of my favorite trails to do a quick speedy bike ride or run. Very private usually only a handful of people walking. Connects to The botanical gardens trails at the end. Very smooth trail and lots of curves

Paint Creek Trail (MI)

Way Too Busy

July, 2020 by mdietrich44

Had heard amazing things about this trail, but it was WAY too busy and there were too many people, as well as lack of trail etiquette. The trail and scenery itself is stunning, limestone is fine, but a dog laid down in the middle of our bike path, people walking three abreast, etc. There were so many people on the trail, I felt I should be wearing a mask.

ITC Trail

July, 2020 by james p

I have ridden this trail a couple days in a row now. It’s very smooth and the scenery is varied enough to keep your interest. There is a small section at 9 mile that you have to make a little jog, but it’s more than passable. There is a pavilion at ITC Park with bathrooms and shade for those hot days. All rider abilities can do this trail because it’s very flat.

Macomb Orchard Trail

Great Trail

July, 2020 by kdnewcomer

Hands down the nicest trail we have ridden. Nicely paved, flat, and well shaded in many areas. All 23 miles of this trail are well maintained.
