Lived in Flat Rock for four years.Ran these trails 4-5 days each week.Varied which Metro Park trail I ran each time.Bought the Metropark annual pass which is a great bargain.The two mile connecting trail from Flat Rock makes access easier.If you bike the entire trail you'll only cross two major roads and one active rail track.These trails are beautful,rarely very crowded,and well maintained.After a heavy snow,the trails are usually plowed within a few days.No longer live in the area but sure do miss running these trails.
I drove half an hour to try out this trail, and ended up riding only 3 miles before turning back. Poorly marked trail and detours made it a chore to stay on course, then when I finally got to what looked like the most interesting section, there was a sign stating bicycles were not allowed. On the bright side, most of the people were friendly, and the students painting the underpass were so nice that I wanted to park my bike and help them paint!
PS: The parking lot at Huron Bridge Park is small, but if you cross the bridge into Bandemer Park, there is much more parking available.
Decent trail, went in February 2021 and you could see and hear the city life during most of the trail but there were some scenic spots. Connecting trails and intersections were nicely marked. Dog friendly.
This is a Beautiful and Scenic Ride thru Northern Macomb County.
The lower end is filled with trash. Lots of highway noise. It’d be good for a quick jog or similar needs. Would not recommend for relaxation or family trail walking / riding.
The trail is a mixed bag. The northern end is presently under development. I rode the trail in early October 2021, and they were in the process of paving the northern 3 or 4 miles. It will be wide and nice, while at the same time traversing multiple crossroads that will require you to stop more often then desired, As you move south, the trail connects with Ottawa park, which also includes multiple connected trails that are in pretty good condition and cut through woods and recreation areas, definitely one of the nicer aspects of the trail. Continuing further south, most riders will be disappointed. The trail, while paved, is old with multiple tree trunk bumps, (roots that have heaved the asphalt) some that will jar your nerves as much as your hands and seat. At the far south end, the trail will once again become worth riding. It's not a trail you will want to travel a distance to come ride. But if you are local and just want to get out and go, this might be a good option. I am semi local, and probably won't go out of my way again until more improvements are done, especially when Toledo has so many great trails within a short drive multiple directions. (See university trail, wabash, or Towpath, as three examples)

A very bumpy trail with many cracks! You can hurt yourself on this trail.
We rode from Oxford to Leonard, then back to Oxford. I prefer asphalt trails (I ride a hybrid bike), but this was very rideable with hardpacked crushed stone and was pretty flat. The first mile or so going out of town is next to a busy road, but once the trail turns more north and away from that road, it is a very pleasant, pretty trail. Lots of shade and out in the countryside. Not very busy either and in good shape. Not sure if it would be muddy in certain parts in the spring, but when we went it was fine. Highly recommend this trail, at least the part we explored.
I wallked the trail on Clinton River Park Trail on Monday Labor Day around 4 PM ..walk from Edison Street all the way up to Dodge Park if anybody has found a pair of prescription glasses can you email me please …

At the east end this trail starts near On The Dunes bar and sports venue. Lots of room for parking. The trail ends in Wixom, with several good options for snacks or a beverage. Our choice was the Drafting Table Brewery. Lots of other cyclers were headed further west for more drinking in South Lyon. Had a bite at On The Dunes when we got back to our car. As others have said, those with kids or serious riders may want to avoid due to the many roads that are crossed.
As of September 2021 the trail is a mix of asphalt and crushed limestone that works its way through suburban lots, farm fields and local towns. The full trail is knit together with bits and pieces of trails in various stages of maturity. We parked at the Indianwood Rd Trailhead and rode around 3 miles south and 7 miles north. Here's what we found:
- Clarkston Rd to Joslyn Rd - a straight run along the old rail line with a crushed limestone surface
- Old Rail Bed to Joslyn/Heights intersection - this section is an old concrete pad sidewalk.
- Heights Rd to Joslyn Rd - a well kept asphalt path separate from the street that runs along the east side of Joslyn Road.
- Joslyn Rd to Indianwood Trailhead: a narrow paved track that runs through the woods along Indianwood Rd for about a quarter mile.
- Indianwood Rd to Drahner Rd - a level, peaceful run through the country on crushed limestone.
- Drahner Rd to Louck Street (in Oxford) - a long stretch of paved asphalt path that includes a dedicated bridge over Washington Street.
- Louck Street and beyond - crushed limestone and dirt track that runs through woods and lakeland. The path in this area occasionally suffers from wash-outs, so keep an eye out for loose gravel and sand.
Overall a very nice ride and a good location, but the experience was inconsistent.
